Sorry guys. It's the dreaded issue of menstrual cramps. I know popping an ibuprofen isn't the answer but what's a woman to do to ease the pain? Yesterday I was useless and thank God is was the fourth of July and no work! I had to go and lay down to nap it off. It worked, but is there anything we girls can take that won't affect our healthy living? Thanks for entertaining this question. I would love to know if anyone found some relief.

Are you eating raw or part raw? And for how long? I always had severe cramps/pms/bad mood (plus I came from a family line where all women had severe endometriosis). Once I started eating raw, all my symptoms COMPLETELY went away. I had eaten raw on and off in the past, and it made my cramps/pms better, but the only time they completely went away was after the 3rd month that I had been 100% raw. If you are just starting to eat raw (and if it's 100%) it may take awhile for your body to straighten out the hormone imbalance that causes cramps. The less toxic you are the more normal the hormone balance.
Also, I've heard pineapple is good for cramps/pain relief, but it sounds like yours may be more intense than what eating just one type of food can fix. But it's worth a try. Hope you feel better soon.

Dong Quai is really good. A couple tbs of liquid calcium can often helps on the spot. Dr. Schulze has a couple of PMS formulas.

Hi!
This is definately a topic that I have some experience with. I've suffered from severe menses cramps since the age of 12. I've come to believe that though many women may have some similarities when it comes to pms, we are still fairly individual on how our symptoms present themselves.
Over the years of doing raw to various degrees I've found that being raw definately helps with menses symptoms from beginning to end. However, I'm one of those ladies who has always needed something more. My cramps are God awful!!! Yes, I believe they will eventually subside with time and cleansing, but until this happens I take a very inexpensive homeopathic medicine that may just give you some relief as well. It's called Cimicifuga Racemosa. I take 30 c's, 5 pellets under the tounge, whenever needed. You can find it at your nearest Wholefoods or healthfood store. It works quite nicely. Don't be fooled by the symptom description on the bottle. It will say to use for pain between shoulder blades due to over exertion. It's very effective for cramps and completely safe.
Hope this helps. I'm definately all for raw and belive it will eventually help most of what ails me. However, in the meantime we have lovely homeopathic meds, and I totally support them.
Hope this helps!

I wanted to ask this same question last week. I had very painful periods until I went gluten free then they were almost normal. Well, last week was my first one 100% raw and I really thought I would die. I was in so much pain that I was throwing up. Dh wanted me to go to the emergency room, but he went and bought me a heating pad instead (at 5:00am). I hope that either the pain is better next month or I get pregnant. ;)

Tumeric is suppost to be good. Magnesium has helped me out every time. I use a clear liquid magnesium that I put under my tongue for a minute before I swallow it. It has really made a difference for me. I don't even have the muscle cramps that I used to have. I don't have PMS anymore. I don't have to fuss with it anymore.
