Do you think a 7 day juice/water fast will do any good for my body? I think it will help me transition into raw a lot easier, because lately i have been slipping.
if anyone has any helpful information or answers, please respond.
thank you :)

Yes, of course it would help! It will help you detox, get rid of cooked food cravings if you have them, lose weight if needed, ect. I will be happy to join you on this. What is your email and we can chat...

I was planning to start today but that didn't work out because i was still researching it. I'm starting tomorrow, bright and early! if you start, what kinds of juices are your favorite? i am thinking i am mostly going to include the juice of oranges/grapefruit/lemon/lime.

right now I have carrots, celery, a couple apples, and a couple oranges in the house. I can start tomorrow with these....My favorite would be orange juice.

It's going alright. I had a quite a bit of juice today to stop cravings. I was craving tomatoes, oranges, and carrots like mad. To me that signals a sensativity, but we'll see. Physically I havn't felt any changes yet. Tomorrow I'm doing water and alternating (unless I need something).

I did okay yesterday but I think I'm going to bow out this time. I went to the market and so much local fresh organic produce is finally available that I can't pass it up right now...even for a week. I'll probably do a fast of some type in the fall. Please keep us posted on how you're doing on your fasts!! Thanks!!

I'll do the fast with you. I'm planning to start tomorrow on the OJ Fast you mentioned in another post. My email is petlady5@yahoo.com
My girlfriend and I are going to fast for the full moon (Tues the 11th) and maybe a little beyond that (I might do up to a week if I feel so inclined :)).

I wish I loved vegetable juice! Carrot and celery juice is so difficult for me to swallow! Hmmmm....I'm a fruit juice fanatic! Is blood sugar level an issue when fasting? I'm sure it can be. A few times that I stuck with orange juice I would get very lightheaded and feel spacey.

I'm not sure about the blood sugar, i would think it would have some kind of an effect though.
Just an update; I'm doing good and it's day 3? I think it is! Anyway, tomorrow will be day 4 and that will be the longest i've ever fasted :)

Day One Completed! I think I did pretty well. No cravings at all and I wasn't really hungry. I decided to do a normal juice fast instead of only orange juice.
I started out using the juicer attachment on my Magic Bullet. That was a mistake. It did great with fruit juice but went crazy on the veggies. Luckily, I also have a Juiceman (I just hate cleaning it).
Went on a massive shopping trip in anticipation of the juicing. Tons and tons of produce. The fridge is full, plus the fruit table. My grocery bill though.... Produce is so expensive, especially organic!
Anyway, I did cheat once and ate a raw zucchini, but only because it was from the garden and I didn't want it to go bad.
So... *drumroll* juice for today:
8oz plain orange juice
10oz total orange juice mixed with the juice of 1/4 cantaloupe
8 oz total orange juice mixed with cherry, raspberry, and kiwi juice
8oz orange juice mixed with a little beet juice
Then my attempt at making an actual juice "recipe":
2 sweet potatoes
1 lemon
1 beet
1 celery stalk
Makes about 16oz of red juice, which tasted surprisingly good. I managed to drink the whole thing, which is an amazing feat.
Bad headache right now, but not clear yet if this is detox or the result of non-stop barking dogs while I was trying to clean.

I have no good excuse as to why I didn't start today. But here I go giving an excuse anyhow. My in-laws are in town (and isn't that reason enough? ;) ), my husband is home for the weekend, and I am in excruciating physical pain right now. So, no fast today for me. I feel that Monday for me is the day, but if tomorrow feels right tomorrow, then tomorrow it will be. Seeing these positive fasting posts is such great motivation!

I've been busy this weekend so I havn't had a chance to update. It's going well. What day is this lol? Tomorrow I'm going to get brave and try cantaloupe juice ::nervous:: what does it taste like? To me the texture will be weird compared to a whole cantaloupe. I'm craving tomatoes so I think I'll do a home made V8.
So how is everyone going to break the fast?
tinystrawberry

i've never had cantaloupe juice, but i looove cantaloupe! i was craving vegetables like crazy yesterday and made a spicy veggie juice :) it was very good and satisfying!
i'm not sure how i'm going to break the fast, maybe half an apple or some veggies until i feel slightly full and then add more veggies and fruits periodically. you? :)

I'm thinking about extending my fast for 10 days instead of 7. Anyone up for it? It's only day 5 (almost), so we'll see how I feel on day 7. No cravings today! My mom was eating chocolate icing and I smelled it and I thought "Gross, it smells like a bunch of chemicals" and then I looked at the nutrition label and it was! So many weird ingredients, why would someone want to eat that?
I made my mom dinner today(vegan) it was garlic sesame tofu with coconut oil. Cooking it didnt give me cravings either, and I wasn't hungry at all.
:D How is everyone else doing?

Day Two finished. Yesterday was definitely a detox headache. I felt really rundown and went to bed around 1am, which is pretty early for me. Woke up this morning feeling shaky and desperately in need of some juice but no headache or ickiness.
Again, no cravings or hunger. I can't explain why since I normally get really hungry between meals normally.
I did a much better variety of juices today. Only one glass of plain orane juice but that was because I didn't feel like putting together the juicer.
Started out the day with:
1 pear
1 large grapefruit
1 small sweet potato
Very yummy and not too tart like grapefruit usually are. 16oz.
Later had:
25 raspberries (which really don't juice well)
15 cherries
8 strawberries
1/4 cantaloupe
Made about 16oz of juice and was delicious. Just what I needed before starting to rip up the carpeting in the living room, which I've been avoiding for months. Did I mention that I have so much energy? It's not a hyper type of energy like I had been expecting. Just a "Sure, I can do that!" energy.
I tried to do another veggie juice today but it turned out terribly.
3 tomatoes
1/2 yellow bell pepper
2 celery stalks
1 garlic clove
1 green onion
1 handful spinach
8 basil leaves
Separately, everything looked and smelled great. Together..... ewww! This one definitely goes into the Yuck pile. I did force myself to drink it though while chanting, "this is good for me.... this is good for me..." in my head and washing it down with watermelon.
As a snack before bed, I just had:
1/4 cantaloupe
1 peach
1 nectarine
1 kiwi
1 pear
Perfect!
There won't be any time tomorrow morning to make fresh juice before work so I juiced lots of berries and a mango, popped it in an ice cube tray and froze it immediately. The plan is to put the ice cubes in my big drink cup and pour orange juice over them before heading out in the morning.

Day three finished. I finally felt hungry during the day, which was a surprise. I think it was mostly due to having to drink refrigerated juice instead of fresh during the morning due to work.
Daily Juice:
Orange juice/Berry combo
1 pear/2 oranges/1 sweet potato
1 carrot/2 celery/1 beet/1 sweet potato/1 radish/1 garlic Very spicy!
1 wedge watermelon/100 red grapes
Is this enough juice each day? I feel like I'm constantly cleaning and assembling the juicer but written down, it doesn't seem like much. Each glass is about 16oz and I drink another 16oz of water in between.

Day Four - Done. I tried cabbage juice for the first time. Not too bad when it's combined with grape and mango juice. Kind of yummy. :)
I've moved into a semi-fast. Not exactly sure what to call it. I'm fasting on juice.... but I do allow myself one raw fruit or veggie per day. Day four's indulgance was Coconana Pudding, which is a raw fresh coconut complete with milk blended together with two bananas. No sweeteners added. It really didn't need any. I was surprised at how good it was on its own! :D After all the juice, I really didn't eat that much of it. I felt hungry, like I needed something more substantial. But after only about 8oz, I was completely full and didn't eat anything but juice for the rest of the day.
So really I'm doing seven days raw with a high emphasis on juice, but that's still very healthy.

I forgot to update about my fast when it ended.
I got down to 146.5 and I felt amazing, but then after 7 days i decided to BINGE on SAD food. My body feels gross and i can tell it's mad at me. I really want to go 100% raw.
I'm back up to 151.5

I really want to do a juice fast. I like what ya'll did here. I've been 100% raw, off and on for a year now....and my "off" times have been really bad. I feel like I need a fast, for three days to start with, and then maybe after a week, try another three days...maybe more. I would like to work up to a 21 day juice fast. There is a website that I like called (I think) www.freedomyou.com. This man gives alot of recipes (I see that you all tried lots of your own combinations....maybe some of his would give you some new things to try. I would like a buddy. Anyone game. I need to check my fridge to see how much produce I have (grocery day is Thursday) but if I have enough to last a couple of days till then, I would like to start tomorrow! Let me know if you would like to join me. I may just start my own thread, to post what I've been doing and keep myself accountable.

Hi all :D
I'm brand new to this site but found it last night when I was researching raw foods and fasting. I'm excited about the opportunity to lose weight and be proactively healthy for life.
I started a fast today. Juice and water only. It was fine. There were moments when I had thoughts about food (fast food) but I prayed and tried to stay focused.
It's good to read these postings though. It's motivational to say the least.
Keep posting (and I will too).
