Hi

I have made these several times and each time they come out differently. I love them though!

I was wondering if anyone has a recipe for date balls that taste like the date balls they sell in the health food store? The ones that are rolled in coconut? Know what I mean? I love those things! It is an addiction for me. Which leads me to another question, are those things really raw?

Thanks!

the ones I make are raw.

Use and equal amount of dates (do not soak) as you would nuts.

example 20 dates to 20 nuts

(whatever nut you want to use, I usually use walnuts or pecans)

Place them in the food processor and process till they form a ball sort of in the machine.

Then roll a small amount of the mixture into a ball using the ball of your hands. Then roll in some dry coconut or sesame seeds or whatever you want

eat then or chill (i like mine chilled a little while)

Aren't the ones in stores really just date and coconut?

Yes, I can't keep them around very long around here, my husband loves them and so does my mother and father. They are a great party treat too! They are soooooo good and noone can believe they are just fruit and nuts. I like my best rolled in sesame seeds.

Sheryl, I've never had a store bought one, but I believe the ingredients do say, dates and coconut, I would hesitate to think they are raw, as the coconut is probably dehydrated at a high temp, plus it would have sulfates in my opinion as most dried coconut does.
