how many dates would equal...

if a recipe calls for a half cup of agave, what measure of soaked dates would be the equivalent in sweetness (pre-soaked measure)?

I would personally probably use a couple of soaked dates and then some of the water that they soaked in, it can get to a nice syrupy consistency.

I would use 6, because, agave is much sweeter than dates, also realize, that 12 medjool dates equals one cup, also, when you add water, to lessen the sweetness of the dates, I would have to really think about subing these two items, also the consistancy is way different, but you can try.

rp, thanks but i got the recipe done before i saw your post. it'll be ok i think, bc i don't usually like things as sweet as recipes make them. i'll let you know the results! oh, and just fyi, the recipe is for pecan sandies :)
