We don't celebrate it usually. Just some fire works on the top of our driveway with the neighbor girls. We don't even do that anymore. This year I'm actually doing something! I'm going with some people to a bbq and everyone is asked to bring a dish so I volunteered for a veggie platter. Always bring something YOU'LL eat so you have at least something there for ya.

I'm going to my parent's house for a BBQ. They will have hamburgers but my brother and I are bringing some other food. I'll be making the raw corn salad. I know there will be green salad and other raw veggies. We always have them. My daughter and mom love watermelon so that will probably be there. My mom said she and my brother's family decided on no dessert. Most likely after my birthday incident where she put out three kinds of cakes and other things and they mostly didn't get eaten. But my daughter got upset at hearing this and declared, "But there MUST be dessert!" I then looked the recipe for RP's brownies and told her we could make that. I was surprised when she agreed to it. The only nuts she really likes are cashews and peanuts (but is allergic) and she got burned out on dates when I used to give them to her stuffed with peanut butter.

I then called my mom and told her I had made the dessert and would be bringing it, and I didn't care if it got eaten or not. Several in the family have very strong dislikes concerning certain foods. My SIL generally will not eat nuts of any kind and my brother won't eat anything that resembles a brain, including walnuts. So I put pecans in there.

The most amazing thing was my husband. I'd put a piece of foil over the pan and labeled it "Don't Eat" with a black marker. He immediately declared that he wanted to eat it and if it were available for him to eat, he was going to have it! I had to beg him not to eat it till the 4th. I haven't tried to unmold it yet, but I did try a couple of crumbs and thought it tasted just like a baked brownie. Alas, the carb count is so high I won't get more than a small taste of it, but I think everyone is going to like it.

We'll probably come home around 8:00 and prepare and assortment of snacks and drinks to get us through the night. Last year we were up till 4:00 a.m. Finally went to bed when we were just too weary and overcome by smoke to watch any more fireworks. They're legal where we live and all of our neighors were lighting the ones that cost between $50-$300 each, perhaps more. This went on until the sun came up. I kid you not. We figured sleep just wasn't going to happen with all this stuff going off over our heads.

We're meeting friends for a cook-out. I've been having stronger-than-usual cravings this week, so I plan to arm myself with two (count'em - TWO!) avocados, a really thick, sweet smoothie and maybe I'll even make a nut/dried fruit dessert. Maybe I'll bring stuff to make guacamole out of the avocados. My husband wants to bring a veggie tray (with a ranch dressing dip) and he got grape tomatoes for it, so I'll probably eat those, too.

Well considering that tomorrow is my birthday, I'm more likely to be doing birthday stuff than going to some big BBQ. And we're moving, so we probably wouldn't take time out to go to a BBQ anyway! :D

we don't celebrate it, but my hubby and I are debating on whether to go hiking or enter his classic car in a show tommorow. Guess we will see. That evening since hubby is off work we are going to his parents for dinner.

I'm going to go hiking with my boyfriend and some friends. I already am thinking about what to bring. Probably some nuts, seeds, and fruit!

Well I'm a little worried, I know that I will stay raw but I don't want to have to try to explain it to my husband's grandparents because they are a little senile and just really set in their ways and they wouldn't even understand the concept and frankly, I'm tired of explaining it. Hubby's parents are well aware, of course and they support it but the grandparents would just not get it and they always make what everyone puts on their plate their business, so I know I'll be asked why I'm not eating the cooked stuff. Luckily they always put out raw bell pepper pieces and I'll just bring a nice veggie platter and a watermelon and totally fill up my plate so they can see that even though I'm not eating a bunch of cooked stuff and meat, I'm eating well. If they ask me I'll just say that all I feel like eating is fruits and veggies and I'll leave it at that. I still don't really want to deal with it but I like to see them and be with the family to socialize. I wish that food didn't have to be such a big deal around gatherings and holidays and such. Anyway, the good news is that I really won't be tempted much by their stuff so I really have no worries about staying raw. I know I will.

If it's a hot day, you could simply say that you feel like eating cold, juicy stuff.

We have a huge party each year on the 4th, and this year is no different,

we provide massive quantities of great food and drink, and people bring stuff too.

we light off tons of fireworks, takes 3 pyrotechnitians, and 3 to 4 hours to view, it's a big tadoo

Dragggon plans all year for it.

so, there is plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, and cooked food too, I just don't eat much when I'm making food, I learned this a long time ago, when I use to cater events, I'm too busy to eat, so It works really well for me to be making food instead of eating it.

This happened to me one year when I did my daughter's birthday party. She and I did the whole thing, except for the cake. We bought that. We did one of those fish pond things. The kids caught inflatable fish. We had a few other games and I made a Jack Horner.

I have a party book from the 1920's and those were common then. Originally they used pieces of buckwheat or something similar and filled a big washtub or other large container with it. Buried inside were little trinkets. As the guests left the party, they'd dig inside and pull something out. This is what was meant in that nursery rhyme about little Jack Horner. The "plum" he pulled out was not an actual fruit but slang for a "good" prize. As the years went by, people found more creative ways to make Jack Horners, eventually becoming sculptures similar pinatas in structure. They might hang or be set on a table. The prizes inside were attatched to ribbons, sometimes festooned with ribbons. Then rather than dig in sometime mucky, the guests would pull a ribbon and that would be their prize. The one I made that year was a flower garden. I made assorted flowers out of tissue paper and also topped it with butterflies, bees and a small bird in a nest. I assumed the thing would explode like a pinata, but it didn't. Instead the top lifted off neatly at one end and it stayed pretty much intact. One of my neighbors asked for it and took it home to display because he liked it so much.

That year I did a huge olive tray, two vegetables trays, some salads and assorted deli type items. Luckily we had made up everything but the food well ahead of time because my daughter had her appendix out just a few days before her birthday. What a stressful time! Since I am a diabetic, I was afraid I might eat too much, especially since I had been tasting things as I assembled everything. But because I was so busy running around and stuff and never actually sat down to eat, I wound up getting a hypo. I actually had to eat some of the carby stuff I normally avoid.

Tomorrow shouldn't be too stressful for me. I've already made the brownies and the corn salad. And I got the baked beans ready to go. Not raw, but it's a recipe I concocted and I was asked to make them. So I'll put the crockpot on to cook just before I go to bed.

maybe take a salad or a plate of fruit with you..if no one else eats it at least you can.If all esle fails and you end up eating something cooked..dont turn it inot a binge! Just go back to eating raw tomorrow and realise that one meal is not going to ruin your whole life! :)

My mom keeps on asking me what I'm going to do tomorrow, we're going to a park near-by...well, 3 miles away and staying there to relax, etc. Well, they have an amazing buffett and it's going to be very very hard to stay away from it. She wants to go and eat it, but I don't want to mess up. If I do eat somethign that isn't raw...hopefully I won't destroy myself over it! But I'm fixing food for my sis and I to eat (she's decided to follow me with raw). So it's gonna be hard to say the least. But bringing food is a must!

Smoothies most of the day, housework and maybe a trip to the zoo ( if they are open)
