Love, Kindness, generosity!
So many of you were so kind and uplifting when I posted my last post about being so discouraged. I could feel the kind thoughts...
I just had to say thanks again for all of you here who are so willing to send kind thoughts someone's way when they are hurting or discouraged. I have had a few wonderful things happen in the past couple of days and had to share them! First of all... I was able to go shopping with FIFTY whole dollars! I felt like a queen! I even got my first batch of oranges all season (is it orange season? oh well, I bought some!) and I have never had such sweet oranges. I can honestly say that I think the fruits and veggies I bought have been the BEST I have had ALL YEAR. I swear it is from the love through which I was able to get them through! I juiced two of the oranges for my "breakfast" this morning and it filled an entire glass!!! I know this food has been blessed.
Another positive thing is that my dh has been able to go for two GOOD walks in the past two days! We walked for 30 minutes each time and he was ENTIRELY worn out afterwards! This might not seem like a big deal to some, but after everything he has been through in the past 17 months and then almost dying... it is a HUGE deal!!! Of course, I need the walking SO badly too and am benefitting from it as well!
I think that the one thing I am truly learning through my dh's illness is to be truly grateful. I have lived all my life on the "giving" end - food for homeless, opening our home to the needy, helping in our church's mission and post-Katrina efforts - but having to be on the "needy" end has been very hard for me. It has truly brought me to a place of humility and learning.
Anyway.... I did not intend to get all mushy, but I am sitting here crying. I just wanted to thank Alissa for having this board and for all of you out there willing to give kind words and kind gestures out of love!
