Hi Guys! I took a day off to see my dentist in Denver and finally get rid of the rest of my mercury fillings. I'm so happy to see them gone!! I've never thought much about the fillings till going raw and studying more about it. When I did my 3 week fast, I often got a strong metallic taste in my mouth and lots of salivation....a sign of mercury/heavy metal poisoning. Anyway I read so much about metal fillings that I'm just so glad to be rid of them, whether it's true or not. I was sure sore after the novacaine shots, and of course I'd like to never take pain killers again, so I just muscled through it.
Anyone else concerned about mercury fillings? Did you have them removed?

I've thought about it but I'm too chicken. I have a made fear of the dentist. Last time I had a small filling I had a major anxiety attack in the chair! Don't want that again!

Cool Sue, thats brilliant!
I'm glad you bought this up...
I haven't been to the dentist in 3 years now.. and i'm scared too.
I know i'm going to need at least 2 fillings (I can see the holes) - i've never had a filling before but I spent 2 years having braces on all my teeth and they were tightened every month so it was agony in each tooth.. and i've had teeth out too and needles in my gums - Kristi you are NOT alone in your fear. I don't think it's natural for all this poking in our mouths to go on so I feel our bodies and minds WILL be scared of it - self/nature preservation.
I definitely want to get white fillings, thing is - I don't want drugs... and I bet it hurts like hell? Sue you had novocane right, did you have to? I DEFINITELY don't want needles in my gums ever again! And I don't want drugs in my body.
Can anyone tell me how it happens - Marigold what was it like - did you have to have an injection? Or I wonder if maybe gas and air would a better option... did it hurt lots? If you had drugs was it detoxy afterwards? And what are the best things to do/ask the dentist to avoid swallowing loads of chemicals and being drugged up?
TIA!

I when every I have dential work I ask for Nitrice..A.K.A. Laughing gas
It works wonders And relaxes me enough to take a shot in the mouth.
I visited a holistic dentist about getting my fillings removed. Yikes! The bill was going to be above $5,000.00. I just don't have that kind of money. They recommended doing the removal along with chelation therapy - so the cost would have been much higher than that!. I also had some problematic root canals...even more money!.
I too have that metallic taste. I can't stand it!. I'm actually doing some metal detoxing now (with homeopathic remedies).
I was also worried about so much work being done on my teeth at my age - I was afraid of tearing up my teeth and making things worse.
What did you replace your amalgams with?. That was another concern of mine - the options didn't seem very appealing. The cheapest was plastic - but I wasn't convinced that was any safer. I think the best was gold - but I couldn't even think about the costs of that!!.
Then I went to a lot of amalgam/dental forums - and I really didn't see any proof that anyone had greater health benefits from removing the amalgams. But at least no one regretted doing it. In my head - it makes sense to do it. But I'm not convinced in other areas.
But good for you for going through with it!. I hope it pays off for you.

Smasty,
Who is your Denver dentist? Went to local one and he quoted me a whooping $9,100 and this is not talking about removing mercury which I believe has been removed. He's talking teeth build up, crown work, fillings (few only). Yikes so thinking Dental School in Denver.
Are you involved in raw group in area? We have one going in Boulder 2x mo.

Hi Guys!!
Lilac! I'd love to join you guys!!! I'm living in Des Moines but I get to Denver about every 6 weeks to visit my family. I grew up in Littleton, Columbine HS grad. You'll have to let me know when you guys meet. My dentist is my BIL. Tim Masterson, he's incredible, does Pat Bowlen's family (owns the Broncos). But, I'm sure he's expensive. I'm lucky having him in the family though, he did all gold for me on the lowers and did resin on the uppers. The resins are chemical intensive going in, for sure, but are stable once they harden.
Thunderhoney :)---please get those holes filled! I know it's scary. But you want to keep the teeth right? Things will only get worse the longer you wait. I suggest doing novacaine, or it will hurt. Getting the shots suck, but it's a lot shorter pain than the drilling/stuffing pain. I used to love nitrous, but I come down so hard off of it, I quit taking it.
