Hi. Can as many people as possible say how they feel about eating at night? Right now I am RAVENOUSLY hungry and want desperately to reach for my fruit and eat some. Should I drink tea instead (or water?)? Should I eat? Should I eat FRUIT?!! Whats better to eat at 10:30 pm? fruit or veg?
My stomach is going "rumble, rumble, rumble" lol.

I find that the best thing for me when i am very hungry, since incresing my raw food intake is the raw nut and seed mix that i mixed up - it feel like you've eaten a lot, but its usually not. Other than that, just grab whatever you really want, be it fruit or vegetable, nut or seed! :)

I eat at night. Lately I've been saving my daily avocado for a late night snack and mixing it with a diced tomato. And sometimes I snack on sunflower seeds.

Right now my focus is staying raw, so I don't worry about what the best thing is to eat at night. I tend to be craving potato chips or soy chikin nuggets, so I just eat what I feel like at night. Anything to stay away from the chips or nuggets.

I do well all day, just eating a smoothie and fruits until late. Then when my husband comes home and wants a meal, that is my falling-down time as I want to eat at least one meal with him in the day. I eat the heaviest then, and I can't help but feeling that all that food, usually heavier types of foods too, lay heavily in my stomach. I don't have enough activity after that to take care of the calories and I have not been losing any weight at all. I really need to lose weight and I can't figure out why I am not losing at all. It can only be the late night eating. I don't really recommend it.

My 2 favorite late night snacks are banana ice cream & watermelon. I'm having watermelon soup right now as I type this ...YUM :D :p

In the Raw Food Detox Diet book, she actually supports eating heavier at night. This also corresponds with the Hygenic thought of fruit until 12noon and then eating progressively heavier.

Personally, I find that, unless I am going to take a 4 to 5 hour break in eating, I eat the nuts, avocado, sprouted grains, and dried fruit type things at night - otherwise I am digesting them all day.

Still trying to find my way.... :o

By "night", are you referring to dinner at 6 pm? I am referring to 10 or 11 pm. I can't see how that can be good. If a person really feels the need for something then, I would think that the wise course would be something pretty light.

I say, that as long as you are eating raw--- then GO FOR IT, I often eat at midnight, but that is me, I eat when I feel like it, don't eat when I don't.

it is the only thing that works for me, set meal times, just don't work, I'm not hungry in the am, or early afternoon, I get up at 8 or 9 am, but don't eat anything until 2 or 3 PM, now that may not work for everyone, but it works for me.

so I say, as long as it is raw, eat it. and enjoy it, make it something truly delicious, othewise, why bother eating at all? LOL

I heard Oprah say you shouldn't eat anything after 7 pm.

I have to wonder how all those Spanish and Portuguese people stay so slim!?
When we go there, it's difficult to stay awake for dinner. They don't even START dinner until 9 pm!

I usually keep a pie in the fridge and have a piece around 8.
If I eat more than that, then acid reflux keeps me up all night.

I find if I eat late at night, say after 9 pm, I always have heartburn in the morning. :(

The body does a lot of work at night while we are sleep.

Fuel it up properly for all the restoration, detoxing, filtering and healing it has to do. Plus you'll sleep better if your not tossing and turning due to hungry.

Consider pieces of apple or celery with a raw nut butter. I like a greek salad at night too. Olive oil, garlic, cuccumbers, tomato and olives... I skip the feta (though I miss it) followed by a few segment of orange. Nut fats, avacado and olive oil help keep me full while oranges do a reat job of regulating my blood sugar and improving my evening mood.

Also try room temp. water with the pulp of a lemon, good diuretic and quite soothing ;)

Maybe it's not ideal, but late night is my favorite time to snack, and my focus right now is staying raw and focusing on whole raw foods. I can work on refining it later, after I do some healing and have more energy to deal with the hardship of giving up night snacking. Right now it's hard enough to pass up the chikin nuggets and chips (and I have no dehydrator, so I can't make Alissa's!) If I had to also give up eating after 6 or 7pm, I'd cave and quite probably go back to junk food.
