View Full Version : Do any of you dream about cooked food?

I don't mean "daydream", but dream , you know, when you are asleep!
I just finished reading a novel about a guy going through drog and alcohol rehab, and almost every night he would have vivid dreams about doing drugs and alcohol. Even though he wasn't actually doing those things, he would wake up in a panic, still feeling the "high."
So then it hit me, that's what I'm doing! Two or three times a week I'll dream that I'm breaking down and eating several of my favorite SAD foods. I wake up in a panic and feel terribly guilty, until I realize it was just a dream!
Is it just me, or are any of the rest of you experiencing this? I've been raw for 10 weeks.
peace,
daylene

I've been vegetarian for about a year, and have been 100% raw for two days, and almost every night I'll dream about something food-ish. My therapist thinks it's because of my past with eating disorders, but who knows... our minds work weird ways :p

No I have never had a dream about cooked food. I love to look at pictures of any food but it does not make me want to eat it.
10 WEEKS, you are doing GREAT. More Power to you.......

Oh yeah, this is just my opinion but I think it my mind and body's way of resisting... you know your body and mind can become used to (or addicted) to something - even when that something is clearly unhealthy. I haven't had any dreams like that in a while but I remember having some and actually tasting the flavors of foods. Of course with me, it would be candy or something sweet as those are my temptations. I remember waking up one time and it was kind of funny because I woke up disappointed thinking that I had given in to the temptation yet again and it took me a few seconds to realize that it was just the dream. I think that as we get stronger and stronger in whatever the endeavor is, it seems like the past temptations or whatever they are will pull out all the stops to try to sway us to look back. It's really weird how that happens.
Aside from that... Hip Hip Hooray for 10 weeks raw :)
I've never done that with raw but it happens all the time when I'm fasting.

I think, depending on your situations, that it would be your body's resistance, OR detox. I didn't have anything like donuts (literally only once in my life) for over 10 years and one night I dreamed I had that and a lot of other pastries that I've had once or twice in my life. This happens to me when I'm fasting as well.

my husband saids I sleep walk and am always saying I gotta check on the beans, they might burn and earlier this week he said I was doing it and he came in the kitchen and I had a empty pan on the stove and and had a flame going and I was just standing there staring at it. He said it scared him to death.

I don't think I've been dreaming about cooked food. I've been a vegetarian for years, and sometimes I go through phases where I dream I'm eating meat; and while I'm doing it, I say to myself "It's ok. It's only a dream." In my awake-time, I have no desire to eat any meat. I haven't in years. It doesn't disgust me most of the time, or anything like that. I just don't think of animals as food.

LOL, well, I've been vegetarian since 1995, and I've been raw off and on for 5 years, and the ONLY time I dreamed of food was this past year, and it was not only cooked it was MEAT ----ARGH!!!---, I couldn't believe iT. I was really upset in my dream, then I realized that I would NEVER eat meat, so I instantly KNEW it was a dream, LOL, so I ate it, it was gooooood. but it didn't make me want to really eat cooked or meat, thank goddess!!!

I'm on day 4 of being 100% raw and on day one I had a dream I was eating those chocolate covered Peanut butter girlscout cookies! When I woke up I was so upset at myself but then realized that it was just a dream :)

I dream about eating all kinds of food - especially meat. I never let it upset me, after all, it's just a dream. Gosh, I have dreams all the time where I'm cheating on my spouse, too. I'm quite adventurous in my dreams. :D
Just enjoy it for what it is, sometimes your subconscious needs to have a little fun. :p Anyway it's the decisions you make when you are awake that count.
Cheers,
Eve

That's so true Eveleaf!! I'm going to think about my dreams that from now on. The only thing is that I always wondered if I should pay more attention to my dreams. Like if they are clues to things I need to work on etc. I think I like your idea to just have fun in them though!
