Surely by the time you have it prepared the craving will have passed.
I do not think that you will find a raw substitute for white bread but there is a recipe for eggplant bacon on the breakfast thread.

hmmmm.....I would do the eggplant bacon that Rawkinloc told me about the other with lettuce and tomato and Alissa's mayo on to raw crackers.

I like the onion bread, as it is semi moist and delicious, I make BLT, without the B, becasuse I don't care for the eggplant bacon, I hoped I would, but I don't, but I do love OLT, which is kalamat olive, lettuce and tomato on onion bread, it is excellent. mmmmmmmm better than BLT. in my opinion.

Now RP that sounds good. the Kalamata olives (instead of oil) could be sliced as a 'bacon' substitute. Yum. Thank's for the suggestion. Joz

I was completely craving a BLT type lunch the other day and had some curry rye crackers i had dehydrated, and between them I put a pile of chewy dulse, and some sliced tomatoes from the farmer's market. . . it was the most delicious and satisfying snack!
the dulse is salty and smoky and a perfect match for the tomato, and if you don't have dehydrated bread or crackers on hand, i think manna bread would be wonderful or even a lettuce leaf or two wrapped around as a "bread" .

When I put sun dried tomatoes in my kid's foods, they joke about it being bacon.
I served a salad to my SAD extended family recently and they thought the sun dried tomatoes were bacon bits (althought they knew better). My wife marinates them in olive oil and seasonings.

Hi
I make a sandwich using a version of the pizza bread, lettuce, tomatoes, marinated portabella musrooms and a version of sour cream. It is yummy!
