Hello all!
WEll today i had a check-up with my doctor, first one in months since before my fast! He told me whatever I was doing to keep it up and so I plan to. then i told him how many bananas I eat some days (not everday, they have a tendancy to give me sugar highs lol), like around three or four. He told me this is not good and you should never have more than two bananas a day because they have a very high sugar content, a lot of calories, and they raise insulin levels in the body, causing excess weight and other health problems. He says they are a very beneficial fruit in moderation and shouldnt be eaten everday. What do you guys think about this?

He had just told you that whatever you were doing was great, and to keep it up! LOL Do what you're body tells you- if you feel like you're getting too gittery because you had too many, then maybe just have two.

LOL, he tells you one thing one minute and then tells you another thing five seconds later, oh boy, you gotta love them. I would say keep up the good work and keep in raw!

Hehe, that is a hoot. I cannot belive he said one thing then flipped right over when you told him about banana's. Too blasted funny, sad too though. Shows how some 'traditional' Dr.'s just don't think. Present them with something that is contrary to what they where taught and it is wrong, even it is obviously good. Oi!

hehe. That sounds kind of confusing info. from a doctor! oiye! Well, just eat all the bananas you want. Next time you go in for check up & are completely fine & healthy, let him know how many bananas you have been eating on average a day. :D

There have been days when I have had 12 bananas and days when I have had none. I would say just go with what feels right and good in your body. I say just keep on doing what you are doing. Don't get caught up in what people tell you....I mean every individual of a species is slightly varied. Without variation, species' would have a very very hard time surviving through environmental pressures and so on. so all species' have variation...sooo how can anyone say that EVERYONE can only have 2 bananas a day? How on earth would they know? Your body can't speak to him, only to you.

There was a booklet I read in the 80's about the banana diet, it was saying that you could actually survive mostly on bananas because they supplied almost everything the body needed in about the amounts it needed. Also, humans need lots of sugars as brain fuel for our relatively huge brain, and what is the best source of sugars? Fruit!

If I have such a huge brain, then how come I do so many stupid things.

Maybe your doctor said that about bananas because in the typical SAD, 3 or 4 bananas would be way too much, when you consider all the other sugar Americans consume. He's assuming you get all those bananas IN ADDITION to sugar in your breakfast pastry, coffee, and soda.
Like they say, just listen to your body. If your body craves 10 bananas, then your body needs something those bananas can supply. If your body craves a head of cabbage, then your body needs something the cabbage can supply. You can't go wrong if you stay raw. Just make sure it's your body talking, not your heart. In other words, don't eat to satisfy emotional cravings -- a sugar high can do that, but it's only a temporary fix. But I'm sure you already know that!

Yeah perhaps he is talking about in addition to SAD food. I mean that would make so much more sense.... lol. I think ill continue to eat the bananas when my body so desires too. Then next time I see him, and every thing's fine, what can he say then?

I would ask: How many people did he cure? Zero?
It is funny to hear people still use some silly ancient arguments, when there are generations of raw foodists growing, proving them all wrong. I think that if all people became raw foodists, western doctors would die out.
I suggest that it is your doctor who needs a check up with you, not vice versa. :)

VERY good point! That makes so much sense. :)

I eat more than 2 everyday... They are my favorite.. I get my sugar tested every 3 months (A1C) and my last draw was 4.1 and I was told that was low. So unless you have a sugar problem I don't think it is a problem. That is a good question to ask.. When I go to the doctor I'm going to ask him..
