Good morning ya'll. Ok...I'm a bit upset lately because my skin is so bad I don't want to leave the house. I have been 100% raw for 27 days and it just gets worse and worse. Last week I decided to give up nuts completely. The only thing I have that has any fat in it...is olive oil for my salads.
Why isn't my skin clearing up??? Has anyone else had to deal with this? Can anything help it? Or is it a form of detox?
At 27 Days I'm totally betting you're detoxing big-time. I know people bring up that detox word a lot, but in the case of acne it MUST be. All of those toxins are coming out. I suffered with terrible acne until I had my son. I know what it's like to not want to leave the house because of it. I remember being in COLLEGE and skipping a class and calling my mom and crying and crying to her. I wouldn't give up your healthy fats because that's what's going to help your skin get better and be able to heal! Give it another two or three weeks and see how your skin is. I'm sure after this flare up you'll find yourself 'over the hill' and your skin will start to heal and will look more beautiful than you've ever seen it. I know it's hard, but hang in there.

I had the exact same problem. My skin just dripped oil and my pores were HUGE. I was going to make a post later on today and tell everyone what has finally worked for me.
Here's what you do:
1 - After you wash your face, spray it w/ straight apple cider vinegar and
let dry
2 - Then put about 1/2 T of pure 100% aloe vera gel from the refridgerator
in your hand, then add about 1/2 t of MSM crystals to the aloe gel.
3 - Let the crystals disolve completely into the gel and smooth it on to your
face all over.
4 - Let it dry on it's own (will only take about a minute)
I have dealt with acne and grossly oily skin my whole life (I'm 36) and this is the only thing that has ever worked. Please let me know what you think.
Take care :)

What is MSM?

Hi Miachris,
Thanks for your tips. Did you also have tight dry-feeling skin under those oil?

MSM is in the DMSO family. You can take it enternally to unclog arteries veins, and more. It helps with many ailments. My dad was schedule for heart surgery. He had 7 blockages. 2 weeks before surgery he started on MSM and then they went to do the surgery and they said that the blockages were nearly clear now and there was no need to do the surgery. Many people use it for different purposes. My mother has RA and she would not be able to walk without DMSO (externally) and she also takes MSM. My grandfather does DMSO and he swears by it. I myself am allergic to both, but I see the positive results my family has with it, although I think they would all be better off just going raw, but that is their journey.

This happened to me when i was fasting and experiencing detox. I had never had much of a blemish problem before, except the occasional zit, but when I fasted I had millions, everywhere! WEll fasting is a much harsher and faster detox and the blemishes went away after about a week. It will go away. Im just not sure how fast on raw food.

Thank you so much you guys...I will definitely be trying the apple cider vinegar! ;) I just needed to hear that it will go away. I kept thinking...this is so bad...is this going to be my life as long as I'm raw. :o It's brutal! But I will press through it and let you know when and if it goes away. Perhaps that will be an encouragement to someone else later...in their raw journey. Thanks again. :)

Thanks for the skin tips!
If you really want to use less oil in your food, you don't really need it in your salad. I mix my salad ingredients, then I shake on some herbs like a Greek seasoning I make, or a nice dried red pepper/garlic mix, or whatever I am in the mood for. Then I shake on some lemon juice, apple cider vinegar or wine vinegar (is that okay?). That's all. I never feel the lack of oil. (Especially if there is something creamy in the salad like avocados)
