Hi everyone,
I am really enjoying raw. I'm eating lots of fruits and salads. Some nuts and seeds, but try to limit it because I have a lot of excess weight on me at the moment.
I'm having a lot of fun with my food, I feel freer and happier, just eating some fruits and salads. Is it really possible to take off weight while I"m enjoying my food this much? I've been really loving peaches lately. I eat 2 or more at a time.
I also heard I should limit my bananas to no more than 2 or the weight loss will stall.
Actually, at the moment, I am avoiding the scale because I don't want to get caught up in the numbers. I do trust that my body will eventually release the extra weight, as long as I stay raw and don't overeat.
Thanks for listening.
Ellen

I guess it all depends on your body and your metabolism. I can eat tons of bananas and lose weight, but I have to watch that I don't overdo the nuts. My mom on the other hand, has trouble losing weight if she eats too much fruit and her body doesn't handle it very well (all the sugar). But she can eat as many nuts as she wants and she still loses weight.

Hey Ellen,
I have been raw over 60 days now and I eat whatever my body craves so long as it's raw. I used to limit nuts, avocados, certain fruits, etc... the first time I did raw about 3 years ago and it made it to challenging for me.
My new rule this time around is: Just eat raw!
Good news to report: the weight is falling off. I sometimes eat 5 or 6 bananas a day. Sometimes 1 to 4 avocados. Sometimes I eat no nuts, but other days I may eat a couple cups of them. I trust that my body will adjust my weight and my cravings for differents foods as I progress.
I wish you much success in this raw journey and would love to help and share with you on your way.

Brianna, I guess I have to wait and see. it's not like I can't adjust my intake, right?
Lay Lay, thanks! I love hearing that you ate what you wanted. I love the idea of eating what I want, fruits, etc. Do you eat mostly whole foods or smoothies?
I have a juiceman jr. juicer. It's a centrifrugal juicer, I am wondering if I can throw in green leafy vegetables.
Are you 100% raw? Are there symptoms when you switch over? I'm still waiting for Alissa' book.
Thanks.
Ellen

One of the most fun parts of being raw is that you get to perform a science experiment on yourself!!!! Experiment around and find out what makes you feel the best.

I have some favorite recipes that I make up here and there, but mostly I stick to alot of whole foods.
Yes, I am 100%.
Some people have detox symptoms that can really vary from person to person and some people have known. I am a detox person, LOL, and I still have detoxes happening. I love each one and embrace them, knowing that my body is doing its job to release the toxic mess inside of me.
I have a juiceman jr to and I love it, especially when I want smooth juice. Yes, throw your greens in there with an apple and yummmmmmmmy!

listen to your body..if you are not very hungry then dont eat that piece of fruit or vegie or nuts or whatver until you are...your body will tell you what it wants.
We have so much food in our society that we have forgotten to listen to our body and what it wants.
If you eat lots of vegies ..they do not have as much sugar in them(fructose in fruits) they will not make you as hungryas fruit ..however fruit is very high in fibre and its better you eat ten apples than a chocolate bar.YOU are not going to gain weight on fruit and vegies!..I know a fruitarian who only eats fruit and she is underweight....usually fruitarians are underweight!
So dont worry about eating too much fruit..just stay eating raw! :D

If your concerned about it use something like fitday to track your food and your weightloss. If the weightloss starts to stall then you can see what is different and change it up. Just keep in mind if you have alot to loose you likely will hit a plateau, it is fairly common. Don't let it discourage you, the plateau will go away. I honestly think that when you drop alot of weight the body needs to take time to catch up with it and work on other things, like saggy skin, health issues, and such, for a while. After that you'll start loosing again.

Like I said in another post Ellen, I have to lose about the same amount of weight as you...maybe a few pounds more... I'll see when I get there (I've lost 20 lbs so far). Anyhow, I've only been raw for 50 days now and I just eat what I want when I want... as long as it's raw. If all I want to eat all day is fruit, then that's what I do (though I wouldn't do that many days in a row because I do feel we need nuts and greens) but this is my point: raw is hard enough without making even more restrictions WITHIN eating raw. I personally want to stick to eating raw. If I started making more restrictions on myself, then I would fail. I would rather it take a little longer for me to lose my weight but know that I'm going to stick to eating raw, and WILL lose it eventually.

Thanks, everyone, for responding. I am LOVING what i"m eating. Today I had 6 AMAZING peaches for breakfast, and a banana, and a little later I made a wonderful smoothie w/some water, papaya, a banana and some frozen strawberries.
I had a salad for lunch, and I loved the little grape tomatoes. I'm finding I use much less salad dressing than I used to. I just whip up olive oil and lemon juice w/some fresh garlic. Today i tossed in a handful of basil from the garden. Mmmmm....
MY fiance had some nitrate missiles for lunch w/saurkraut and some other stuff I would have normally eaten. I was totally happy with my salad!
I don't know why but I actually feel happier eating this way, that surprises me. I don't feel hungry, altho I sometimes want to eat because that's something I always did, hungry or not, I ate. That's how I got to be so heavy.
But with raw, it's different. I honestly believe it's because my body is getting the nutrients it needs, so I don't need to keep shoving something in my mouth.
Yay! It's a lovely day.
thanks again...
Ellen
I agree , I find the same thing, I don't get the old eat for the sake of eating feeling as much anymore.

I've lost 50 pounds in 100 days, and I still have a ways to go, but I just eat raw, some days I eat a ton of food, it looks like I'm eating for 5, other days, I have a glass of orange juice, and that's all I want
some days, all I want is honeydew melon, and other days, I want nut heavy burgers and marinara sauce, and pesto stuffed mushrooms,
I just eat raw, and I don't worry about what anyone says, because MY body is gonna' let me know what it wants, heaven knows it let me know what it DIDN't want by gaining 200 pounds. LOL
so, eat raw, enjoy your food, live happy and post on this board.
we care.

EAT MORE PEACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are sooo good! I'm on my 11th day raw and just eat what I want, but try not to get so full I'm sick. I eat what my body tells me to. Like today...I ate all fruits, I couldn't handle the thought of eating anything else. I did have an avocado and didn't like it, which is odd since I love them! Go with what your body is telling you and craving. My roomy always has a theory that if you're body craves it...it needs it! Well, not the cooked, junk food! Those cravings go away in 10 minutes or so actually for most people!
