This is the first raw cookbook I've bought since buying Alissa's book. I don't exactly agree with all her ideas (she is okay with being less than 100% which I don't think works but anyway...), but the recipes are interesting and the cookies turned out AWESOME! My toddler is eating them up.
Basically, ingredients are raw oats, raisins, walnuts, cinnamon, agave or raw honey, salt, nutmeg, and coconut oil. :)

I love that book! So much information! Such interesting recipes!

Even though she allows for a little cooked, I don't think we should run with it. Since that is where many of us ARE anyway, eating a little cooked now and then, we need to resist the urge to think that more is okay and start getting sloppy. Raw is not a concentration camp. We are not going to get zapped if we don't do it. We're doing it or trying to get there because we know it will be better for us.

I'm gonna try these cookies now.

Renee is such a lovely soul too, and one of the real original raw chefs. So many others recipes you see have just been hers taken and "adapted".

Not only that, but am I right in thinking that she used to be the personal chef for Woody Harrelson's family?

If that is the case, then you can be sure those recipes are family-tested and approved - by someone who can afford to have the best. That is an amazing seal of approval.

yes this is another two thumbs up for a raw book! The pies are to die for! And she has the best crust recipes I have tried.

doubleg, you might want to see the move I'm pretty sure it's called "go further", woody et al travelling up the coast to promote sustainable organic living.

Woody Harelson and his family are Raw?

That's what I read. I Googled "Woody Harrelson and Raw Food". Lots of references.

Newsweek profiled him as a raw foodist and say that he is actually the publisher or the recipe book we are discussing, Living Cuisine.

'Go Further' is available from Video Easy, many video rental places too. Woody and a gang of people travelled up/down the west coast of the USA promoting raw food, organics and green living in general. Renee was the chef and you see lots of her. She's got way more attitude and fun that you can possibly imagine from the book. She appears quite young too.

I highly recommend the movie - it's excellent!

Cheers,
Sheryl
