So I was watching the news last night, and a commercial came on for Folgers Super Smooth or something to that effect. Turns out they produced a coffee that supposedly doesn't upset the stomach. How stupid! I mean, I guess it is great for those coffee drinkers (and I used to be one!) but why would anyone ingest something that deliberately affects their stomach -- so much so that the company developed a hybrid to account for it?

Just another reason to eat raw!!!

That, and I love avocados so much ... and nuts ... and fresh cherries ... and fresh corn ... and .... :p

rachelmh,
OMG I am totally with you don't you just love these ads, loved the new 7up all natural drink add too, they think just because it has natural on it that it is healthy. I guess just another ad scheme to get people to think they are consuming healthy things. Yes like you said just another reasib to eat raw.

There are many things that can upset a person's stomach or otherwise bother them, both healthy things and not.

You have no idea how often I have had to discuss these matters with my grandson in the supermarket.

That is juice and that is pretend juice.
No it is not. It is juice.
No it is not it is pretend juice.
Sulk.

and the best one.
7up is bad for you but 7up Free is good for you.
7up is bad for you and 7up free is worse for you.
tantrum.
I do not blame him and not so much the ads. I blame his mother who falls for the ads and passes it on to him proving that the ads work.

I love the way that they invent a problem and then solve it. Colgate has just brought out a toothpaste for us older folk. How did my generation ever manage without it.

Because they're addicted. and the companies are only too happy to oblige them if there's money to be made. ;)

And the ad for whole grain...white bread!? That makes NO sense to me. Maybe it was made from "whole grains," and THEN it got bleached!? Someone explain this to me lol.

I know and those ads are powerful. I guess I saw a coke advertising because the other day I went to the fridge and was looking for a coke and didn't even realize what I was doing. Thank goodness I didn't have any. It was really strange because I haven't had one in 7 years. I started laughing when I realized it. I couldn't imagine actually drinking that poison.

I'll be more than happy to explain this to you. See, they add 2 whole grains per vat of bleached bread dough. The grains are in there...those were whole grains...They can market it as whole grain bread.

Either they're brilliant, or we're all idiots. I don't get how it works. :p

Because we are a junk food nation, it seems that people will more likely buy something processed and wrapped for them.

Maybe the fruit and vegetable industry should get special wrappers for their fruit, lol.

My favorite are the antacid commercials where they show everyone all bloated from eating greasy diner food then tell them to relieve themselves with tumtatumtumtums or any other nonsense product. I understand we can all combine and mix healthy foods incorrectly but we try to learn from our mistakes naturally. I have a friend who can't leave home without beano, a huge thing of tums and zantac. I've asked her if its really worth it to eat so poorly if she knows she is going to suffer for it. She ignorantly says "oh, I don't suffer long, this stuff usually works." Those products are used to mask or do away with the symptoms of underlying poor nutrition.
