Hi, I'm new and I had some questions, so I made a little questionaire lol. So here it is:

1. How many pounds of carrots do you go through, in 1 month for 1 person. I eat around 30 :)
2. Do any of you eat the white part on the oranges thats right under the skin. My mom says it's bitter but I love it.
3. Do any of you know what to do with Fennel? There is some growing in my moms garden, the bottom bulb isn't ready yet, but I tried the top leafy part, and it's really good.
4. What is your favorite fruit? Mine is tied between apples and oranges.
5. What is your favorite vegtable? Mine is definately carrots.
6. What is your favorite dried fruit. Mine is the prune.
7. What is your favorite nut/seed: Mine is definately almonds *drools*
8. Is pre-bottled juice raw?

Hi summerloco,

well, your avatar is a horse and that might explain the extraordinary (to me at least) amount of carrots you eat a month :D

To your questions...

1. How many pounds of carrots do you go through, in 1 month for 1 person. I eat around 30
Are you juicing a lot? When I used to juice every day, I went through a couple of kilos of carrots and cukes a week. At the moment I rarely eat carrots, maybe 1 pound a week.

2. Do any of you eat the white part on the oranges thats right under the skin. My mom says it's bitter but I love it.
I don't mind it, when it's not too much. But I don't really care for it.

3. Do any of you know what to do with Fennel? There is some growing in my moms garden, the bottom bulb isn't ready yet, but I tried the top leafy part, and it's really good.
Never tried the upper part, but I love fennel bulbs as a salad: Thinly slice the fennel bulb and marinate it with an olive oil/vinegar dressing. Not too spicy. Goes well with green asparagus tips, too. Also raw mayo is great with fennel.

4. What is your favorite fruit? Mine is tied between apples and oranges.
My favourite is durian, but that changes like the seasons. I am waiting for pomelo season, then that will be my favourite fruit.

5. What is your favorite vegtable? Mine is definately carrots.
At the moment I love cucumber and no meal is without it. Before that it was cherry tomatoes.

6. What is your favorite dried fruit. Mine is the prune.
I love prunes and raisins. And dates. But prunes the most.

7. What is your favorite nut/seed: Mine is definately almonds *drools*
I love filberts and walnuts. Macas too, but they are difficult to get here.

8. Is pre-bottled juice raw?
In 99.9% of all you can buy, no. Fresh-made juice is raw, if its bottled and prepared for longer shelf life, it's not raw anymore. But sometimes you can buy fresh juice in bottles, but then it should say "freshly juiced" (like that day or an hour ago).

Have fun around here,
mel

1. How many pounds of carrots do you go through, in 1 month for 1 person. NO clue. Some days I eat a 5- serving bag (5 carrots per serving it seems), or I went through a 20+ serving bag in two days plus juiced 5 today.

2. Do any of you eat the white part on the oranges thats right under the skin. The part after you peel that still left on? I eat that part. Good fiber or something I think lol

3. Do any of you know what to do with Fennel? no clue

4. What is your favorite fruit? Hmm, that's tough!! Oranges and tomatoes

5. What is your favorite vegtable? Tied between carrots and celery

6. What is your favorite dried fruit. Used to be date, but...fig I think now

7. What is your favorite nut/seed: Pistachios and cashews...havn't had them in years though

8. Is pre-bottled juice raw? No, sorry. If it's pre-packaged it most likely is NOT raw unless it's a dehydrated cracker or brownie or something similar that says RAW, but not all those are either.

No I don't juice any of them, I just eat them straight. I used to only eat a pound a week, but I just love them too much lol.

1. How many pounds of carrots do you go through, in 1 month for 1 person.
I don't eat carrots.
2. Do any of you eat the white part on the oranges thats right under the skin.
Yes!
3. Do any of you know what to do with Fennel?
I don't juice stuff but I would imagine you could juice it?
4. What is your favorite fruit?
Bananas
5. What is your favorite vegtable?
Lettuce
6. What is your favorite dried fruit.
Dates
7. What is your favorite nut/seed:
Almonds: fave nut, Hemp seed: fave seed
8. Is pre-bottled juice raw?
Nope, sorry. Most packaged stuff, especially liquids, is pasteurized to prevent bacteria from forming. You could try to get unpasteurized apple cider from farmers at farmers markets in the fall.

1. How many pounds of carrots do you go through, in 1 month for 1 person. I eat around 30

Only a couple. I'm not a huge carrot eater.

2. Do any of you eat the white part on the oranges thats right under the skin. My mom says it's bitter but I love it.

It's called pith. I don't deliberately eat it.

3. Do any of you know what to do with Fennel? There is some growing in my moms garden, the bottom bulb isn't ready yet, but I tried the top leafy part, and it's really good.

As much as I like fennel, I think I'm allergic to it, so I haven't tried to come up with any raw recipes involving it. :o

4. What is your favorite fruit? Mine is tied between apples and oranges.

Bananas.

5. What is your favorite vegtable? Mine is definately carrots.

I like avocados and cucumbers.

6. What is your favorite dried fruit. Mine is the prune.

Definitely pineapple! :D

7. What is your favorite nut/seed: Mine is definately almonds *drools*

I don't eat nuts/seeds by themselves, but I like almond milk and cashew/macademia "cheese"

8. Is pre-bottled juice raw?

Only if it says it's unpausterized. Apple juice is one of very few I've seen bottled like that. Only get it if you're confident that it was juiced and bottled in sanitary conditions. You're much better off making your own juice (fresher, more variety, no worries about bacteria growing, etc.) That having been said, bottled juice is a decent transitional "food". It's not raw, but it will get you into the habit of drinking juice and developing more of a taste for fruit.
