Hi,

My name is Gaelen Straughn and I'm from Jacksonville, Florida. I am in the process of transitioning over to raw and would love to hook up with someone who is also doing so. I'm a mom to three children and they eat cooked food, so I'm surrounded by it. I need willpower. I would love to form a friendship with others who are in the same boat as me. I'm also trying to kick a coffee habit.

I am going to be taking Alissa's September certification course and am so looking forward to it. I know it's going to be a life changing experience.

Look forward to hearing from some folks!

Warmly,

Gaelen

Hi Gaelen and welcome aboard!
I just finished Alissa's class in June, boy are you in for a treat! I was a major coffee addict and as soon as I finished her class it was no problem to stop it. The detox has been hard but worth it. Just have a little less and weaken it a little more everyday until you dont need it. I was also only about 85% raw before her class and now Im 100%......and its great! You will gain the focus in her class to do ANYTHING

Best of Luck
Jeannie

Hi Jeannie,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I do think that taking Alissa's class is really going to help me in so many ways. I'm so excited about my decision to go raw, but I just need that kick in the fanny to take that final step in doing so. It's also tough in today's society being a raw foodist, so many things are focused around food. I just have to find my comfort zone and ease up on things. I have read Alissa's book and it's wonderful. I think right now it's important for me to find a raw food buddy so that we can support each other. I would eventually love to connect with raw food families. It would be my dream to see my children eating 100% raw food, though realistically I know that dream may not be fulfilled. Even if they were to go 50% raw I would be thrilled.

My direct email address is gaelenstraughn@comcast.net. It was wonderful hearing from you. I find it encouraging that you were able to break your coffee habit!!

Warmly,

Gaelen

Denise, Alissa's classes are in Kittery Maine, just visit her site for details.

Gaelen, visit meetup.com and put in your city and raw food for the type of meetup and it will list anyone in your area looking for the same interests. There are so many different meetups out there. You might find someone here in the forum too. Go under search at the top of the page and put in your city and you might find some people. I know there are lots of raw foodists in FL so good luck with your search......wish I was in FL, I love it there.

HI there,
Great to hear the decisions you are making towards better health for you and your family! i am a stay at home mother of four, and i live just north of jacksonville ! i mean a stones throw away! how neat! I started on the raw lifestyle in november. right around the holidays! wow! anyways, i have to say, staying in tune with those of like mindset is a Big help. It's these kind of chats right here that keep me grounded. right now my kids are high raw. my honey, is not there yet, though he talks about "getting there" soon!! i am overall very pleased with the progress we've made these past six months. we haven't had the $ to fork out to purchase a dehydrator, so many of the things we are missing out on, but i am finding that i just have to be more creative. if you ever wanna hook up, since we live so close, that would be neat! looking foward to hearing back from you!

Blessings,
Summer

I love your name.
I am in South Carolina and I am also new. Not sure where to introduce myself, but Greetings to all who read this.
As for kicking the coffee/caffeine habit, you might go to Gary Null's site and listen to what he has to say about caffeine. He's a firm believer in arming people with information so that they can make choices. After listening to him, it was a no brainer. I clicked on to his online books, there are many choices, and started listening to the 7 Stages of Health. I play it on the computer and listen just as if listening to a radio program. I play him all of the time. My husband has now given up his cokes and is now asking me if there is enough juice for him, when I make it.
Good Luck
