My stomach is really bloated and distended for some reason.

I am wondering if it isn't my bowels somehow acting up?

It looks as though I am 7 Months pregnant.

Even a lady at the store came up and asked when I was due!

What can I do to get my stomach to look normal again, please?

Thanks for helping me :)

Well, I was in your "boat" before going raw...VERY "backed up" for lack of better words. What more than likely is happening (this is my unprofessional opinion) is that your body is simply cleaning out old stuff. I mean, if you've been constipated a lot throughout your life, then you will have to expect to see some...ummm...interesting stuff come out in all shapes, sizes and colors!

But as you go on and further in this, things will get better for you and more "normal"! Try and trust what your body is doing and just rejoice that it's coming out at all! :D Make sure you eat your fruit and greens...do some green smoothies and stuff and perhaps even incorporate ground flax into your diet (you can grind the seeds with a coffee grinder and sprinkle on salads, in smoothies, make crackers, etc.) to help it along even further. Your colon is going to probably go through some healing and repair too.

If you have the long skinny ones, you may have an internal hemorrhoid. I had one and didn't even know it. Especially if sometimes you feel like you have to poop and you get some out, but feel like there's more in there that isn't coming. (and you thought YOU were graphic :p )

That's the feeling I'm dealing with now. It's really uncomfortable. I've had a colonoscopy- (when I was about 14) They said everything was healthy...how do they tell if you have an internal hemroid?

I went to the doc and told him how I felt, and that my poop was skinny, and I feel like I have more, but nothing else comes out. He put his finger in my bum and said he felt a little hemmorhoid. He gave me a rx cortisone cream called Proctisone or something like that. That was over a year ago. In the past year, if I felt a little bit like that, I'd just put some of that cream, or an OTC cortisone cream on. The problem usually goes away rather quickly.

They tend to happen if you strain. As my ex said, you "blow a gasket." :D

I'm having similiar problem too. This morning is Day 3 100% Raw, woke up and had diarhea. I thought this was going to happen as I was passing foul wind all yesturday evening! I'm also a bit worried as I have formed BM on cooked and have always had regular BM, at least once a day. Now I've got diahrea. I'm eating about 80% fruits, 10% veg and 10% nuts/seeds. Should I worry about diahrea - either way diahrea is not good for you.. is it? Am I still absorbing the food/nutrients from the food?

Your body has to adjust to the chane in your diet as well as detox and this can be a "symptom" of the detox process...nothing to be worried about.

I've been raw for about 3 months, vegan for 4 yrs and vegetarian for 22 years. Ever since I turned vegan my bm's have not been well formed. Going raw has made them even more loose. I'm going on 3 months and they are the same.
I'm just going to accept that this is how they will be. Is it unhealthy?

Greetings Everyone experiencing a change in their BMs. I am far from a professional however there has to be a point where you have to trust what your body is doing for the betterment of your health. In time this all will pass and you will experience whatever you consider a "normal" BM.

There are several things going on right now with your bodies. The process is not an over night thing...it is just that a process. Each process or experience is going to be different and will complete at different times. So it doesn't matter if you just started last week or 4 months ago, your body is going do whatever it is going to do in it's own time. I know it is hard (from experience) but we are going to have to stop diagnosing (sometimes our experience is not another persons) and start letting the dextox experience happen. Most of all, we have to let it complete.

I would like to thank Rawkinlocs and dreamrawalwz for their very valuable and helpful information. Sadly no one really commented on the experiences of those who have gone before, for some strange reason. Hummmm. Sometimes it is sooooooo hard for us to really adjust to the concept of detox and the effects it has on our bodies. However, once we understand that our bodies are going through a major change it is easier relax and embrace the experience knowing that we will be soooooo much better this time next year. I guess you have to experience more than one or two major detox symptoms to get the fullness of what is going on with your body and that you note improvement once it is over.

Hang in there everyone!! Don't get discouraged and don't give up. You are doing just fine!

Tombi as I was reading your comment my brain went to my biology class. I was thinking that...since the big intestines draw out water from the stool...when you have SAD you need a lot more water to combat the salt intake and to detox from the toxins you consume, with raw, however, you consume a lot more water through natural fruits and veggies. If your body doesn't need all of this I assume the intestines wouldn't need to absorb as much, therefore it just passes right through. That's my little theory, take it if you want because it may be wrong lol. I try.

That makes a whole lot of sense. It'd be nice if the intestines made this less uncomfortable though.lol

Codajess, ohh no you describe my,um, bowel movement problems perfectly. I've been constipated for as long as I can remember (most of my life) and recently I get these big long poops once and a while but most of the time I need to go often but only little tiny skinny bits come out and I just can't get more out. hemerrhoid??? ahh what would that mean? is there anything I can do about it without using a cream, I mean will it just naturally go away?

You did not say anything about your diet, if you had this problem before raw and how long are you raw.
My experience is, that I get bloated if I overeat, munch the whole day-Istill have emotional eating problem. The days when I am balanced and don't overeat, my belly is nice and flat. Although, my belly is flatter tham ever in my life from raw.

I wasn't raw when I had it last, so I'm not sure. Being raw would probably fix it over time. Usually you get hemorrhoids from straining too hard. That's not a problem on raw (in my experience.) I know that you're dealing with more important things right now, but I'd say give it time. Try to eat lots of fruit. I ate a whole fresh pineapple within like 15 hours one of the first few days I was raw; HOLY! Can we say "Clean you out"????

ETA: When I screwed up and ate cooked food after over a month of being raw, almost immediately it was hard for me to poo again. When I was raw for a week or so again, they normalized.
