Ive been eating raw about 90% for the past 2 weeks. :D
I worked out bicepts and tricepts yesterday and Im hurting
more than usual and I felt weak today while working out shoulders.
I was able to lift as much but not do as many reps.

-Will my body get use to this new way of eating
and Ill be able to lift just as much as I was on my SAD diet?
-OR Do I need to buy I buy some type of supplement?

Hi Sabrina,

You're body will be going thru lots of internal changes if you are switching towards high-raw or 100% raw. You will have periods of time where you will feel weaker and not be able to do the workloads you are used to and there will be other times when the usual workload will be very easy. If you were on a SAD diet the body will be doing "housecleaning" to different degrees on and off for quite a while. I would say, if you are really into weight training, focus on the things you would normally focus on (such as proper form and technique) and be prepared (mentally) for times when the poundages or reps will fluctuate while your body is cleaning itself out. I personally don't use supplements but I can understand why a person may want to in your position. I have heard that enzyme supplements help in this situation. Although, as I said, I haven't used them myself. I used to take amino acids, but after my 3rd month of high raw, I stopped. Since then my body has been really going thru different changes, but I know its part of the process.

Peace.

I use hemp protein powder in my morning smoothies. I like the taste, and I am not having any problems when I work out.

There is a web site for a RAW weight lifter, you might want to check it out: http://www.rawfood.com/arlin.html (you might want to do a search for more info on him as well)

Good luck

Hi Sabrina6826,
I truly haven't noticed any difference since going raw 7 weeks ago. I've been working out for 24 years and maybe that's why. Just used to it. Been on many different eating plans. The only one that I noticed a decrease in energy and ability to lift was the Atkins plan. I had absolutely no energy and would feel totally exhausted walking up the stairs. That was a sign to me that my body really needed carbs. Added them back into my eating plan and right back on track. And we all know, we get plenty of 'good' carbs on the raw plan.
Good luck on your efforts.
Kim :)
