It means that you should attempt to be 100% raw because the 10% will be taken up by things that you think are raw and are not. The truth is that I am probably only 90% as well in spite of the fact that I think that I am 100%.
It could also mean that you can allow yourself a little more fredom as regards salad dressings etc but not the chips.

Thank you for that.
I still don't understand what the% mean?
How can you count a percent without labels like on cereal etc.

A suggestion would be not to count %. Just be completely raw. That would mean eating only vegatables, fruits, nuts and sprouted grains. It would then be your choice to incorporate condiments raw fooders enjoy like nama shoyu, agave and etc.

The problem with the % thing is, just as you expressed, how do you keep track. If you consciously eat a certain percentage...80% raw and 10% non raw, what does the 10% consist of? Two slices of pizza? A snickers bar? What? The 10% is sooooooooo wide open with choices anywhere from steamed (cooked) vegatables to potatoe chips and dip, KFC or whatever! There is no consistancy.

Your best option is getting Alissa's Book reading it, read the valuable threads on this site pertaining to 100%, and taking the 30 day challenge while reaping all the benefits for your health.

Enjoy and Embrace your Journey

I would think that it means 10% of your total calories is not raw. So, if you normally eat 2000 calories a day, 200 calories can be not raw.

Why count calories when you are first starting? If you are following Alissa's book there is really no need to do so. At least durng your first month or however long it take for you to figure out what will be right for your body based on your experience with being completely raw.

Relax enjoy and have fun finding out what you like, what you don't like and take your time to learn how to listen to your body. Have patience. Have fun eating what you want when you want...after about 2 months your needs and wants will change and it will be your body telling you what you need. Then at that time if you feel you need to cut down on certain things, cut out others or add things do it based on your own personal experience.
