Hey everyone! I'm Mary and I've been a vegetarian since I was 12 years old, about 7 years now. I recently became interested in going raw. I know very little about it, but have been researching many things on the subject. Does anyone have any tips to getting started?
I am wanting to lose weight and be healthier. Also, does anyone know a good Yoga or Tai Chi place in Atlanta?
Thanks!

Hi Mary!
Glad to hear you are going raw. Just take one step at a time and don't beat yourself up if you have cooked food once in a while. Just always try to make the better food choice. If you stay away from all cooked refined foods white flour, sugar, refined oils, you are off to a good start. You probably know all this since you have been vegetarian for a long time now. Check out this e-book. I think you will find it inspirational!
Go to http://lifeizgood.rawreform.hop.clickbank.net. This lady lost 150lbs on a raw food diet. Go to the bookstore and find a good raw reciepe book. Tell me what kind of foods you crave, and I will email you a few raw alternative recipes for those foods if you want. Don't worry about eating too much fats, if they are good fats! (flax oil, avocados nuts and seeds) Eat a lot of lettuce and greens with your meals, this will help you digestion. Buy digestive enzymes! This helped me tremendously!!! Good luck and please keep us updated on your success!

One other thing Mary. If you have some bad days, don't stress we all have them!! Just try to always choose the vegan alternative, steer clear of dairy products. I could write so much more, but I don't want to ramble, if you have any questions whatsoever, just ask!

Welcome Mary! I received your post about living closeby to me but when I tried to post a reply it wouldn't let me..I am pretty new to the boards too and the raw lifestyle, I have been raw for 13 days now and loving it! My one tip would be to make sure you get a good grocery list of raw foods and stock up your cabinets and use the internet and these boards to find recipes to keep you from getting bored on raw food. I can't believe how good raw food tastes..I changed this recipe around from one I found- you might like it if you have a sweet tooth:
1/2 cup ground flax seed
1/2 cup raw wheat germ :)
1/2 cup ground pecans
honey to taste
1-2 tablespoons of oil
cut raisins in half
Mix all together..you can make these into fridge cookies or what i like to do is eat it like granola and I mix fresh blueberries with it, it is so yummy! You could also use strawberries or other fruit.
