Today, unbuckling my toddler from her carseat, my left finger started to feel irritated, and then my whole hand started tingling.

A couple days ago, my left arm felt like it fell asleep - except I wasn't laying on it or doing anything that might cut off the circulation.

I know it's a symptom of heart attack, but I have no risks for heart disease - I've been eating heart-healthy for six years (if not raw), I have a low stress life, and consistent low blood pressure.

So, ruling that out - could this be a kind of detox? Has anyone else had this happen?

Do you take a b-12 supplement?

Tingling can be a symptom of B-12 deficiency. I've noticed it before, and when i supplemented the tingling went away.

You could still have a heart problem even if you have no risks. Some people are born with defective hearts and don't realize it until something goes wrong. It could also be a B12 deficiency like the other person said, or it could be something like a pinched nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome.

Blood Clots
Pinched Nerves
Heart Disease

When in doubt check it out?!?!?

By the way, strokes don't give much notice nor do they discriminate with regards to age, health or dietary intake. i'd take some asprin or flax seed and get in to seem my MD 1st thing tommorow.

When I was a teenager I got persistent tingling in my extremities twice. Each time I went to the doc. One was an iron deficiency and the next time it was a folic acid deficiency (though I'd imagine it would hard to become folic acid deficient while raw, but anything is possible). Oh and I'll add that the other day I did a water fast because I was getting a cold and by the end of the day both of my arms were heavy, numb and tingling. My guess was low blood sugar. I won't be fasting to the point where I ever feel that terrible again. Just 'food for thought'.

I do use flax seeds some, and I sometimes take a B12.

I guess if it happens again, I'll call a doctor just to rule out anything serious.

The same thing has been happening to me know for 7 years. My entire right arm from my elbow to my finger goes numb. Sometimes it feels like my right hand is fat, like it is hard to open and close my fingers becasue the hand feels big even when it is not. If I lift anything remotely heavy my whole arm will be in pain for the next couple of days. Other days my arm will be just fine. (also note that I am only 26).

I finally went to the doctor last year and found out that it was a nerve problem in my elbow. He rolled something on both my finger tips that was kind of prickly. I was AMAZED at how dull it felt on my right hand and how much sharper things are with my left. They did some neurological testing and found that there was an issue with the nerves there.

I was worried because I am so young but he said it doens't nessasairly get worse as you get older. He also didn't say there was really anything that could cure it. He told me to start taking glucosomine supplements and that was about it.

Most likely it is a pinched nerve coming from either the scalenes, the shoulder, the elbow or the wrist. The scalene muscles are pretty tight on most people. To stretch, stretch your head Left ear to left shoulder, extend right arm down to get a deeper stretch. Also extend both arms behind back, bring head back and stretch the chest and neck muscles.

could your issue have been from hold and clicking a mouse for mutiple hours per day?

Have you had any kind of neck injury or do you have neck pain, because it could be cervical reticulopathy. If there is pressure on a nerve in your neck, it could cause numbness and tingling in your arm.

I am NOT giving you ANY medical advice whatsoever. This is just my opinion and it is NOT intended for your medical care. You must decide what is the best path for you to take.

Without seeing you and manipulating the areas to check I can only give very superficial advice.

I've been doing Massage Therapy for 24 years and most always it is something slipped out and pinched in the back and/or elbow. Have someone push in and around under the edge of your shoulder blade, if you have a sharpish pain anywhere from about 2 inches from the spine to under the shoulder blade, then most likely you have something pinched or you might need an adjustment.

The numbness and tingling in the hand is very common with having something out of place. Just the fact that you have a toddler and you were bending over buckling her in indicates that you do a lot of repetitive lifting etc... and that is more likely the reason.

Not too often does a neck problem radiate all the way to the fingers with numbness, although something out in the neck can cause your spine to re-adjust lower and cause the said pain and numbness.

Not sure what you have available to you but a good massage sometimes can put the problem in check although it typically takes more than one time to get any lasting relief. Watching how you lift and move is important as well.

Hope that helped even a little bit

I would say if it doesn't go away after 3 days, or gets worse, it would be something to have looked at.

This is an older thread, but that particular tingling hasn't happened again since.

I did have neck pain, it came and went for a few years and finally got so bad that it was difficult to drive because it would hurt to turn my head. That's when I started a raw diet, and over a couple of years, even though I wasn't 100 percent the whole time, the neck pain is totally gone!! If I rotate my head all the way around in a circle, I can hear some pops and clicks that didn't used to be there, but no pain whatsoever.

I was just made aware that I have mitral valve prolapse (a defective heart valve), and guess what? Nerve tingling and numbness is one of the things that can go along with it! Somehow MVP affects the balance of the nervous system and causes all kinds of weird symptoms that you'd never connect to the heart - from anxiety to migraines. So I'm going to assume that my arm tingling (and other strange twitches and numbness) are related to that.
