I'd do (and do) conventional if organic isn't available.

Raw conventional. At least it'll have some nutrients and some life to it. Canned does not.

Hi. yes, definitely avoid canned foods for many reasons. btw, they are never raw.
If you need help choosing which conventional produce is safer than others, there is this site which I found to be very helpful and informative. It has a list of individual fruits and vegetables and reports on how safe each one is.
hope this helps out some.

yep, canned is not raw, in fact just for information's sake this is how much "cooking" canning actually does.
when they make pork and beans they don't even cook it, they put it in the can, and the canning process cooks the pork and beans enough to eat.
so canning, really does cook the food alot. YIKES!!
I'd always go fresh ripe raw, NOT canned.

You can get fresh RAW FROZEN fruit, that is also organic.
I get it at my health food store; It is ordered specially for me.
No additives or preservatives....just FRUIT.

Oceana, usually frozen fruit is blanched, but not always, I get mine at the HFS unblanched too.
you might just want to check yours.

I have a cherry tree, two apple and two pear trees. Although the cherry tree is loaded, the birds seem to get to the cherries before I do. I'll be lucky to get a couple to eat. But that's fine. The birds need to eat too!
I canned some pears and apples the first year we moved in. A lot went to waste because the kitchen wasn't functional when we moved in. No water and no stove. By the time I got those things up and running, much had rotted.
Last year, there was nothing to can. One pear tree didn't produce at all and the other has pears that are not suitable for canning. One apple tree was said to be non-productive. Not entirely true. A few branches are loaded with what appear to be Delicous apples. They start out yellow and then appear to be going red, but then they all seem to fall off the tree before they are ripe. Or the birds get to them. The other had something weird happen to the apples last year. They all had brown spots inside. None were edible.
Now if I get the bumper crop that it appears I will, I will likely can some simply because I have the canner and the jars already. Most of the people I know do love canned fruit. BTW, the fruit *is* cooked before putting it in the jars. It is then put in a boiling water bath for a certain length of time. Some things can be packed raw but I haven't tried doing that. I think it's more finicky to can that way.
I have asked for a dehydrator for my birthday. Not sure if I will get one or not. If I do, I can use that method to preserve some of the fruit. Freezing is not an option for me. We do not have a very large freezer.
At this point I don't know if I will eat any of the canned fruit (assuming there is any to can). My daughter loves canned pears and will willingly eat those, but will usually not eat raw pears. I prefer them canned as well, not that I ever eat too many of them either way, mind you. I used to eat cottage cheese with canned pears for breakfast. That was before I learned of my dairy allergy. Haven't eaten any since.
