Is there such thing as healthy chewing gum besides spruce gum of course... (I've actually chewed it - I grew up in the Northwest Territories with a high native population and they chew it all the time, keeps the teeth really white and the breath...well, kinda sprucy and once you get past the REALLY sticky stage, it gets gummy and a kinda purple in color. Weird. )

I just ate lots of garlic in my fettucine alfredo (raw of course) and don't think anybody's gona love me anymore.

I'll try lemon water for now until someone answers my question.

Try chewing parsely if you have it, or take chlorophyl! Chlorophyl is the main ingredient in the Breath Assure capsules. You can get this in liquid or capsule form in your local Health Food Store. It works wonders, from the inside...( A lot of breath issues stem from the stomach and gut.) It has many other heath benefits too.

Good luck. I won't comment on gum, since it is a vice that I struggle with too. Even the so called "health food store gum" has its drawbacks. Chlorophyl is a winner hands down.

Gum is one of the things I choose to keep in my diet...however I do buy special gum! Xylichew and Peelu are gums that don't have as many chemicals or dangerous sweeteners as other gum. You can find these at Whole Foods or online. I think chewing gum might actually help with the dental issues some raw foodists face...chewing gum keeps dense dehydrated food from sitting on the tooth surface. I realize gum, in most forms, is not raw...just wanted to share my personal choice.

p.s. Peelu: sticks to dental work, Xylichew doesn't

You may also choose to store a couple of cloves in the back of your jaw - amazing trick I learned when I was part of a supervised fasting group. We as Caay indicated, consumed parsley as well.

I was gonna suggest Peelu gum as well. They also make a breath mint. They're not raw, but better than Wrigley's! I was an avid Extra Sugar-Free Gum brand chewer myself and have discovered recently that it now upsets my stomach. But like Smasty, gum is something I choose to keep around so, I do Peelu instead. I haven't seen nor tried the Xylichew here in my area.

Here's some info on Peelu.

I'm fond of the chlorophyll myself. It works all over. Not just the mouth. I got high milligram veggie caps at whole foods. I was going to buy Body Mint but it's really expensive and a very low amount. So I opted for a cap at half the cost with twice the chlorophyll. Works great. No bad breath, not even in the morning. No smelly feet. No pit stink.

But the Peelu is handy for after meals when you can't brush.

Nice to know I have a few choices. I've never heard of chlorophyl capsules...and I've heard of Peelu gum but never tried it. So uh...no more spruce gum for me eh? :)
