This may be a rather dumb question but I dont know... can a person buy sesame milk at a health food or whole foods store or is that something you have to make by hand? thanks!

I made my first nut milk the other day. I assume sesame would be done the same way. I put brazil nuts in a blender, equal amounts of nuts & water, blend it, then strain with a cheese cloth or a nutmilk bag. There are probably other ways. Someone with more knowledge will be along shortly, I'm sure. :)
ETA: Anyone know how long nut milk can be kept after making?

well, the nut/seed milks packaged and sold in stores, like juices are generally pasturized, which means they are cooked/heated. not a dumb question at all. you can make them by hand FRESH.

I make almond milk almost every day, and I also make lots of seed milks, etc.
they are very easy to make, sesame seed milk can be quite bitter if you are using unhulled seeds, so you may wish to try a small amount first.
Nut milks last about 3 days in a fridge, and you can freeze them too if you like.
I them make all kinds of great things out of them, nutmilk shakes, hot/warm cocoa, latte's (raw-no coffee), creams, cream cheese, ice creams, whipped cream etc.
have fun with nut and seed milks, they are sooooo wonderful, and each one has a different flavor and texture.

All nut milks sold at the health food store are cooked. It's really easy to make it fresh though. All you have to do is blend the nuts and seeds with water then strain them through a nut milk bag or a fine strainer.

i just made my first sesame milk -- and to my surprise it was quite delicious!!
i had just ran out of my first ever made!! :) batch of almond milk, and didn't feel like waiting the 4 + hours for the almonds to soak.........
(although i did start the almond soak, so i can have almond milk later tonight too...:) )
all i did - was soak the sesame seeds (it didn't need long - they were softened within 1/2 hour...) so, i added 1 teaspn pureed mix of raisen/prune (used for my 'oatmeal'), water and a drop of honey............
it was so yummy!
i heard that sesame milk can be bitter, but it already tasted good as i was starting out before adding the other ingredients.
Just thought i would share!!
:)
