Ok so as you all probably know tomorrow is Vati's Day (Father's Day)
I think we are having a little picnic so I was thinking of trying to make a small rawfood dish to share. We are already making a fruit filled watermelon basket thing. that was my mom's idea :)

Any way, I normally just don't make recipes. But I'd like to make something they will think is delicious so that they can be enticed by raw. lol. It doesn't have to make a lot, there will only be a couple people there if that many. ok so here is what I have to work with, everything that is raw in our house right now (we just went shopping hehehe):

yellow summer squash (3 small)
baby bellas (mushrooms)
cucumbers
celery
carrots
baby spinach (probably shouldn't use much of that because I eat tons of green smoothies and these are the only greens we have in the house for the week or longer :()
oh actually a tiny bit of romaine as well
a couple tomatoes
red onion
garlic clove
some cauliflower
parsley (frozen)
basil (frozen)
corn
kelp granules
sunflower seeds
poppy seeds
hemp seeds
pecans
brown flax seeds (don't have a grinder)
coconut butter
sesame seeds
bananas
apples
blueberries
strawberries

WOW we have never had this much food in our house before. lol. This happened because we accidently went shopping twice in one day. And then the nuts/seeds/coconut butter were things I stocked up on with my own money a while ago or things I bought with my gift certificate. yay :)

any way, I would rather not use the fruits besides cucumbers and tomatoes because I eat a LOT of fruit and once it is gone well thats it until someone finally gives in to me asking to go grocery shopping. which I hate doing (asking).

Ok, sorry. Anyway. Thanks for any ideas!!

Hey there!

Well you could start soaking those sunflower seeds and then turn them into a patte? Soak about 6 hours. Then put in food processor.

You could add to them- garlic, onion, corn...?!! anything you think might taste nice. I usually make a great sunflower seed patte using sun dried tomatoes... but i'm sure you could end up with something yummy without them. Then you could cut up some veggies to serve with.

Good luck!! I'm sure your family will love whatever you make. :)

Are you going to made raw sweets?
If so I would suggest raw chocolate pudding or Rawpriestess's brownies!
Both can be found in the recipe site; or a link in my journal.
They are easy to make and if you make (just minutes)them tonight will be ready in the morning!

The pudding won me over! I also suggest you NOT tell them whats in it until they eat it!
My husband loved it; until he found out it was made with a AVO.

Lucinda,
I was actually thinking of that but I have had BAD experiences with pattes. I just don't know how to make them taste good :(

Oceana,
I was thinking more a non sweet thing. I love raw sweets but I was thinking something not sweet. I have made that chocolate (carob) cream pie and it was soo good. my grandma had two pieces. Unfortunately I was SO full and sort of sick when I served it so I didn't have any. And then my mom had another piece another night and then a day or so later it was gone. I do hope she didn't throw it out! At least I got to lick the fp. hehehe. Any way, I was thinking raw spaghetti but I don't have a sauce to make. So I don't know. I want to make a patte and put on lettuce but I am so horrible at making pattes! *sigh*

Hi Lunar :) ,
If you wanted to make a sauce for some pasta, you could make pesto with the ingredients that you have...

Use the basil, garlic clove, and pecans (pine nuts are better), and olive oil, and blend them together

hmm I was thinking of that too. Maybe I should do that. But now what to do with the cup of sunflower seeds that I was soaking??? is there some sort of hummus like thing you can make with that? then again I don't have peppers or anything so probably not. hmm now I am debating. How long do pine nuts have to be soaked for?

thanks so much!

You could easily make a nice salad and toss the sunflower seeds on top, or try making a pate but I have no clue how to go about doing that actually..haha...um, I don't usually soak the pine nuts since they're already pretty soft, but if you have the time I'd say a couple of hours wouldn't hurt.
Good luck! I bet everyone will love it
