I HAVE FRESHLY PICKED FIGS HERE....... the only thing is i thought even if they weren't quite ready yet, they would still ripen on the counter---
they are still green, and when i cut one open they are just not sweet or sappy enough yet like figs should be.

east coast figs may have been different than these california ones, because i don't remember questioning the readiness.

Still, i have bunches now that i don't know what to do with.
THE QUESTION -- how can i get them to ripen? paper bag? on the window sill, on the ledge directly in the sun??
please let me know what you think, as i would hate to throw them all away!
thank you.............

I have a fig tree. They only ripen on the tree. They need to be left on the tree until they are ripe.
Sorry.

Figs
Description: Fresh figs (the green Calimyrna and black-purple Black Mission figs) are available in the summer.

Buying tips: Look for figs with well colored and unbroken skin. Ripe figs will be plump, slightly soft to the touch, and mildly fragrant. If necessary, ripen the figs in an open dish for a few days.

Eating tips: To serve, simply cut off the stems and quarter the fruit to enjoy its soft, moist filled flesh with tiny crunchy seeds. A bit of lemon or orange juice enhances the flavor.

Yeah.. I love figs too, but I never pick them until they're ripe.
Sorry... :(
