i picked a bunch of fresh figs, which i thought might be ready (judging by the size) --- but they are still green, and when cut open they are just not sweet or sappy enough yet like figs should be.
my coast figs may have been different than these in california. Still i have several bunches now that i don't know what to do with.
THE QUESTION IS -- how can i get them to ripen? paper bag? on the window sill, on the ledge directly in the sun??
please let me know if there are any suggestions, i would hate to throw them all away! :)
thank you............. :) :)

Green papayas and mangoes are often shredded to make salads. Ever try a green papaya salad in a Thai restaraunt? It is delicious.

If the fruit is hard you may be able to do the same thing - grate or shred and made a sweet/sour dressing with grated carrots, onions, peppers, etc.
