Thank you everyone who posted helpful information regarding my bout of strep throat/detox. I can be really bull-headed when I latch onto an idea, but I have to write in with my experience and let you know YOU WERE RIGHT. I was detoxing. I don't believe now I had strep throat at all, at least not the usual kind.
Why? Well my husband and I, along with our two kids, really live kind of "on top of each other." You know, lots of hugs and kisses, cuddling time, making/eating each other's food, etc. We're quite communal with our germs. :D And invariably, when one of us gets sick, everyone else follows suit. Well it's been nine days, and no one else in this house has even a sniffle. For that matter, no one at my job either.
Whatever I had, it wasn't contagious. Like you pointed out, the obvious conclusion is detox. :)
At Revell's kind suggestion, I did some reading up on detox/retracing. I've had several bad cases of strep in my life, including one severe incident as a child where I couldn't turn my head for 11 days and missed over a month of school. I now believe it's quite possible that I NEVER really got rid of it, but stored the toxins away in my cells. This latest illness could very well have been my body purging those toxins out for good! (Hope, hope...)
Anyway, nine days later, I am starting to recover. I found that my body wanted lots of warm tea (I used licorice root and thyme with honey), heat applied to my neck, a humidifier at night, occassional veggies but no fruit or salt. These are the things that helped me. Well, that and YOUR encouragement and support. ;)
Thanks again,
Eve
