Hello all,

I have a bioset sprouter that I bought a few years ago and never used - oops! I have lost the instructions that went with it. I found a site online that gave tips for using one, but I'm not sure if I'm missing any steps. Basically, you just put the seeds in and pour water through the top a few times a day. If anyone has one of these would you mind sharing if I'm missing something important, like soaking beforehand.

Thanks so much,
Tina
PS: I made the date-nut torte last night and my husband and I really liked it. I made it with pecans because I didn't have any walnuts. I don't see a lot of pecan recipes in Alissa's book. Are walnuts better for you than pecans, or is it just a taste preference?

That's how you use it - make sure that your seeds are not just jumbled up in there because they will grow fuzz amongst the sprouts. It is really easy. I rinse int he morning before work and at night before bed.

You might want to ask Alissa, I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.

Sweet Lips,

Thank you so much for the info. It is so easy I thought I was missing something. I'm actually putting my 8yo daughter in charge of the sprouts because she likes watering them!

I have the Biosta sprouter...not sure if it's like yours. I do mine a little different. Here are the steps I do.
Distribute Seeds evenly in each seeding tray.
Fill top tray to brim with luke warm water.
After water has drained from each tray and has collected in bottom tray let it sit for 15-30 minutes then empty. Each tray should have approx. 1-2 tablespoons of water remaining. (Large seeds such as wheat and mung beans should be watered every day. Small seeds should be watered only on the first and fourth day. After that, water every day until consumed.) If there is more water in tray than that, drain until you have only 1-2 tablespoons left or seeds will not sprout. Rearrange seeds evenly on tray. Depending on the seed, after a couple of days of sprouting remove sprouts and wash them off. Then refrigerate the sprouts and rinse twice daily.

Also, the first couple of batches of sprouts I did I thought had mold and I dumped them out. I finally figured out that they were root hairs!!! Root hairs are white and very fine and they actually look like white fuzzy mold. Root hairs are found on certain types of seeds...such as radish and will show up usually on the 3rd day of sprouting.

Anyways, hope this helps!!! Stacie
