View Full Version : For the first time - eating feels good!

For so long, whatever I'd eat didn't seem to be working for me. I'd feel hungry and get low blood sugar if I didn't eat, but then whatever I did eat would make my stomach hurt or churn, make me feel lethargic and foggy, or make my arms feel like lead. If it did help me feel better, then an hour later, I'd be sleepy, usually because it was something sugary. I definitely had Food Issues!

Yesterday I was feeling lethargic and draggy. I thought it must be detox, it was worse than usual. I know the best thing to do in detox is to not eat anything but I went ahead and had a green smoothie anyway. And immediately, my head cleared, I felt good - and I didn't have to pay for it later! I continued to feel good all day! Well, actually, I felt so good that, consistent with the 'if some is good then more must be better' way of thinking, I made an all-fruit smoothie an hour later - and still felt fine!

It may seem like a minor thing, but it's major to me. Finally, food that doesn't hurt, or make me feel like a slug! In another thread, someone said they had stopped thinking of food as comfort and were starting to think of food as sustenance. I think food is beginning to be that way for me!

Hi Pailani,

Thanks for posting this. I just posted in another thread to someone who was dealing with being tired and I told her that when I increased my greens I would get this energy . . . just like you mentioned with your green smoothie. I'm going back to that thread and puting a link to your post.

That great! I love when people post stuff like this because it reminds me over and over how great eating raw is.

Hey, Pailani,

Was it the Emotional Eaters Everywhere! (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15693) thread? If it was, it was probably me (post #6) who wrote about food=fuel. If so, I am glad it resonates with someone :).

I am so glad you have discovered the magice of greens! What took you so long? ;) I was lucky to have learned that early on, thus avoiding trials and reaping immediate, consistent benefits. I experienced no detox, no food issues, no backsliding: 100% raw, 100% of the time. I've benefited immediately and continuously from raw, doing fresh, whole foods; no gourmet or dried foods.

I hope it continues for you and only gets better. Stay with the greens no matter what; and, if you find yourself slipping away from them, get back to them, pronto.

Oh, and congratulations on 19 days caffeine free. Wow!

Green Power :D

Best,

One big leaf of kale and some green leaf lettuce. Sometimes I use Romaine or spinach.

Yes, you should try it!

Pailani, it IS a major thing! I can very much relate to your experience. I too began eating raw foods simply for nutrition, without engaging my mind too much. Feeding oneself does not have to be a struggle, and does not have to involve some big thought processes. In fact, what we think is right may not be what our body wants at a particular moment. To me, understanding this, lifted a lot of the struggle from my raw food experience. :)

Hi Pailani!

There is no such thing as minor every change and everything that touch our lives I would call major simply because it means something to you! Congratiolations, this sort of change is big and beautiful! :p I hope raw will continue to feel so good for you!

Fly forever free..
