On the Raw and Living Food Discussion, a thread was started called:
What are we truly afraid of that needs to be addressed to be successful? http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15731
People are writing about their fears about going raw. Some are worried that it will spoil their special holidays to be the 'odd one out' all the time.
I suggested that we start threads that address this by posting recipes that might be good substitutes for traditional foods at those special times. Should we post them all on this thread? Or to make it easier to search, should we start new threads for each holiday or category? There are Christian holidays and Jewish holidays and many others. People might be really encouraged to stay raw on their holidays if there are easily searched recipes and suggestions. There are quite a few suitable recipes scattered about, but not all gathered together.
Shall we post suggestions here as to the holidays we would like to see covered and then start threads to contain the recipes and suggestions?
My interests would include:
- Shabbat dishes
- Pesach (Passover) dishes
- Chanukah dishes

g, for those holidays some ideas... I have a set of chanukah cookie cutters, the menorah is a great shape for molding or cutting raw cookies. Gabriel Cousens MD in his book Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine has recipes for raw Challah. I have seen recipes for a raw Seder that looked great, I just can't remember where. You can simulate some "fried" foods raw no problem.
I read your post in the link, good luck and warm wishes. I find raw cuisine expanding more than it is limiting. Arm yourself with some nice books, search out some other information, and you can create some beautiful feasts, and feel great after eating them too. If there are any specific foods you have in mind that you can't find a raw recipe for, we are a helpful bunch and can probably help you with each one.

Tirza there already is a big thread here on Passover check in Search you'll see it. There's a lot posted for Thanksgiving and a few good ones for New years. But not all together.

Should have checked myself before I started blowing off steam. Thanks for the hint!
However, a few of those links were repeats and led to the same place. I would still love to see us build up a really good collection.

You don't have to 'blush' with us, this is so that we can help each other? So ask awy.
I'v posted ideas for Mother's Day Father's Day a 4th of july Watermelon stars & stripes cake idea to go along with BBQ ideas= Alissa has BBQ fingers and Auntie has another idea with KFC coleslaw etc. I agree with you it would be nice to have all of those posted under each and every holi day and people can pick and choose which one they want to observe and/or celebrate
There's no holidays in August do Ice Cream Bar? have all the elements of ice creams and sauces and caramel and chocolate and nuts and fuges and fruits and everyone can make their own? and so on and so forth.
Rawpriestess had a bash for/at holloween and she mentioned that they had a 'wild' time and she did not take pictures! check out her menue though! you don't have to celebrate halloween as it is not Passover friendly???? I'm asking??? RAWgards Joz
p.s. seriously no need to 'blush'

It would be a great idea to have static stickies at the top of the thread there could be a breakfast, lunch, dinner ,dessert, special occasions and all the right recipies could be posted in the right place.

That is just what I was envisioning. That way we would have a terrific resource, something like a nicely organized online recipe book, all categorized and everything!
Much as I love this site, and the neat things I find when browsing through the postings - sometimes I just don't have the time to do a basic search, and then try to wade through all the postings that have those words in them! I really love the creativeness of the people here and want to use their recipes and suggestions. That would make it so much easier.
Question: Is it even possible to organize the existing posts in this way and WHO would be up to taking on the job? Well at least we might start with current and future posts.

This may sound silly; but I crave mint things around the holidays..

I would love to see a holiday recipes section, with easy to find tabs. And Passover desserts would be the easiest, nuts, coconut. Not sure about other things though.
I imagine if we all started experimenting, that we could come up with a really nice cookbook -- Raw Vegan Jewish Living.
