View Full Version : 90 Days RAW! 43 lbs LOST forever!!!
rawpriestess
06-13-2006, 03:45 PM
Well, I did it, I made it 90 days raw (so far) and I feel great,
THANK YOU ALISSA --- YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE -- I LOVE YOU AND YOUR BOOK AND DVD
WE ALL RAWK!!!
*******************
and I posted this in response to a question posted to me a few days ago:
YES!!! this is the longest I have ever been 100% raw. WOW
humm, there are so many differences, and yet trying to remember them all, guess the ole' memory hasn't been improved yet. LOL
okay, let's see
well the main thing is I don't sleep all day and up all night, I used to have to take a 2 to 4 hour nap during the day, then I'd be up all night, back and forth going pee a gazillion times,
I also have no frequent or urgent urination,
I can sleep all night, get up make a pot of tea, then go pee, no worries.
also, no sinus or sniffles
nose is clear
eyes don't run
ears don't itch
no aches or pains in joints
I walk without tiring
I get up and down stairs and not be winded
I can stand as long as I need to without tiring
I work in the garden all day bent over, no aches or pains
I have no cravings for cooked food, this is especially nice
RAW just FEELS right
my body feels like it's part of me, instead of some alien creature connected to my bones (if that makes any sense)
I don't think about food all the time, I can enjoy many other pleasures
hightened sex drive (as if that was even possible) LOL
better eyesight, (I am now wearing a 10 year old prescription for my glasses)
lost 43 pounds (so far)
hair is getting thicker and longer (YES!!!)
no body odor or bad breath
no bad breath upon arising (NICE)
no diarehha or constipation
blood preasure dropped to 174 over 84 (almost normal) was 274/174 which was death!! YIKES!!!
no headaches
no jaw aches
no blemishes or white heads
no cracked split nails
no rough skin
no rashes or chaffing where my clothes fit
no gas or burping
no crankiness or mood swings
no tiredness during the day
feet don't hurt
legs don't hurt
hips don't hurt
no backaches
no neck aches
no wrist pain
no hand pain
no pain YES!!!
food is not my number one item to think about, to read about, to worry about, to buy, to make to prepare to eat, it is just something I do each day, now
cooked food doesn't even look like food anymore to me
a hightened love for fruits and veggies in their natural state
not wanting or needing as much gourmet foods (although they are nice on occasion)but being happy with a fresh raw ripe mango or pineapple is great
no worries, I suppose this sounds simple, but I used to worry alot about things, now I have this inner calm, that everything is alright exactly as it is
I suppose the biggest difference is my focus is on other things than food and my eating it or not eating it, and that I feel calm in my body, so it is mental stuff for me, although all the physical stuff is good too.

OMG RP I'm blown away that you would think that I was trying to be rude?!?!? I only meant to delight in your success.
I too have lost a large amount of weight and have kept it off for many years, that silly little exercise was something that was recommended to me, and it reaffirmed my feeling of achievement, and I was awestruck at how heavy that was, it helped enhance my sense of victory over something that had previously been a challenge and I had found my way through, and has strengthened my resolve for the future.
I only meant to highlight the magnitude of your transformation and was trying to send you positive and kind and affirming comments. Maybe it's a dumb thing (I was sharing something that was helpful, fun and meaningful to me), If you had an objection to the silly exercise, perhaps it would have been kinder to not assume the worst of people and tell them their comments are very rude. I was hurt by that remark and do not understand your rush to such a negative and harsh judgement.
rawpriestess
06-13-2006, 08:07 PM
it was not a rush to a negative judgement, it was brought to my attention by another member, who thought it was rude, then I read it, felt the same way, and then I asked two other friends, who also thought it was rude.
So, after reading your post, I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, and I'm sorry I took it wrong.
but I didn't rush into it, I was quite taken aback at having someone tell me to go to the super market and get a bunch of butter, it was a misunderstanding I'm sure.
Let's both just forget about it,
I appeciate your support.

You are such an inspiration RP and I am really happy for you! What a list, what a bunch of positive changes! I really do understand the whole part of getting closer to your body. I used to see my body as a jail, the I shifted to seeing it as just being there and never being perfect, now finally I appreciate it as the wonderful gift it is, a window into this world. Also I used to have no clue at all why my digestion was as it was, my stomach was a place I could stuff everything into and then it would be gone. Now I feel the digestion! But you rawk RP! Keep it up ;)

Thank you all so much,
yep I'm 53 (so far) and was 288, now 245
going down as far as I can go, I have never weighed less that 137 as an adult (okay in my early 20's)but MOST of my life, I have been between 180 and 220, ever since 1978 I have only gone below 1980 once, when I was dieting and dancing very hard, I got down to 159 that was in 1983, when I was dancing in Japan 4 to 6 hours a day 124 degree heat. YIKES
then right back up to 180 when got back home, with a couple of years was up to 220 then never went down in all this time. 21 years, I have weighed over 200 pounds, so you can bet I will get below that soon.
And a super deal the black and white dress I am wearing, Dragggon bought for me as a gift 4 years ago, it was always way way too tight, now it is loose, and I love it, so I have a bunch of NEW old clothes that I can wear, was HOPING they would fit by the time I went to take Alissa's class, but I got a surprise this morning when Dragggon asked me to try them on, and they fit,
having friends over tonight to celebrate. YIPEE!!!

RP - I love the photos. You are a great example to follow.
I had a question - I know you and Dragggon prepare lots of raw goodies inc sweet stuff, but have you cut out things like that during the last 90 days?
What were you eating for example in your first week when you lost 20 lbs? I'd like to follow suit.
Thanks.

Hi, you bet, I'll share.
a typical day for me is:
Breakfast:
Herbal tea
(my BF goes out each morning and picks camomile, or some other cool weed for me to drink, raspberry leaf, blackberry leaf, etc. or he buys me herbal teas, I've been drinking alot of ginseng, with some pepper mint leaf in it, we grow our own herbs, and 3 kinds of mint, peppermint, kentucky mint, and chocolate mint)
Lunch:
Fruit (as much as I want, for a couple of months it would be a couple cups of fresh pineapple, now I've gone over to mango, sometimes, kiwi or orange, or peach or plum, the last couple of days it has been a mixture of all of them)
snack:
black olives(kalamata, sometimes walnuts, or pinenuts, usually about 1/2 cup to a cup, depending how hungry I am)
dinner:
burger, or pizza or tostada, (I make up burger patties and onion bread and pop into the freezer--each night my bf puts two onion bread and one burger patty in the dehydrator to make my dinner, then it is defrosted and warmed within about 20 to 30 minutes and that gives me time to decide what I want, If I want a burger, I just add a big chunk of lettuce a slice of tomatoe and white onion, and some mayo and mustard, and a pickle, if I want a pizza, I top it with marinara sauce, the burger crumbled up, some sliced mushrooms, fresh basil, chunks of pinapple and maybe a black olive or two, if I want tostada, I add lettuce leaves, white onion choppes, tomato chopped and hot salsa, we make the condiments up and keep them in the fridge so we always have them)
snack:
either orange juice and black olives (I love this combination, not sure why, it's pungent) or I eat a couple of brownies, or chocolate mouse ice cream or sometimes I just have some more mango or pineapple
and almost every day I have an almond milk, shake, I use 1 cup of almond milk, 3 medjool dates, and 1 cup ice and some fresh vanilla bean, and some spices, mmmmmmmmm my favorite, I've had chocolate once or twice, but the cinnabon milkshake is my favorite, tastes just like the cinnamon rolls I love,
OH, yes, and during this time, I ate about 1 of Rawkinlocs cinnamon rolls every other day, I wasn't limiting myself, I just would eat one, then the next day want something more pungent, then sweet then pungent
I also drink water during the day, maybe 3 or 4 16 ounce glasses or so.

So you don't eat a lot of greens -- you are more veggie based?
I meant to say: more non-green veggies, nuts, olives and sprouted grains and of course, fruit.
It is so interesting to me to see the variations on this way of eating.

I meant to say: more non-green veggies, nuts, olives and sprouted grains and of course, fruit.
It is so interesting to me to see the variations on this way of eating.
I was eating alot of salads for a while, but I couldn't find a raw dressing that I liked, so I was eating bottled and that just wasn't working for me, because they aren't raw, I kept trying to eat salads as I've heard over and over that greens are so good for you. Rawkinlocs makes a great Raw-nch dressing, but I've never made it (YET)
I really don't care for smoothies, I like to eat my food, otherwise it doesn't feel like I ate anything, it feels like I'm on an old diet from the 60's or 70's, so I always like to chew my food. You know those old Metrocal days. YIKES!!!
so, I don't eat much greens at all, lots of fruit, I'd say I'm almost a fruitarian, as that is my mainstay, then next would be nuts, almonds mostly in almond milk and then next would be tomatoes, we make our own sundried tomatoes, and I use them in most everything.
You can go to my journal and it is 35 pages long (so far) and see what I've been eating specifically, it doesn't give quantities though.

Hi Jan, nope, no deprivation at all. I just did what Alissa's book said, just eat raw.
and that's what I did, in another thread here, I talk about how discouraged I got at times, as my weight came off in big chunks, then for a couple of months NOTHING lost on the scale, but I jsut kept eating raw. Because ,although I've said this before, I really am NOT eating this way to lose weight, (it is a wonderful benefit to it though), but I am eating this way because of how great I feel.
So, it's not a sacrafice of NOT eating my favorite foods at all, sure I miss some textures and some foods, but all I do is think of how terrible I felt before raw, and I don't want that food at all.
Because I have done this several times, and I have second guessed it several times, and each time I eat anything cooked, it gets me, either in my gallbladder with massive pain, and trust me on this, if you go through that -- even once -- you won't want to do it again, because doctors and surgery is NOT an option for me. neither is pain pills, so I would do ANYTHING to stop that pain, and when I eat raw, then no pain --- eat cooked, then massive pain
and I would feel terrible for a couple of days, so I quit trying to second quess this lifestyle, I mean how easy is it? there is nothing to remember, just eat raw food, I mean there is nothing to count, nothing to measure, no special packages to try to buy from a special store, nothing to do except go to the store, buy raw food, and eat it. LOL
I do make some gourmet stuff, but it's not a must, when we were traveling ta couple of weeks ago, it was soooooooo easy to find food, we just ran into any store and there it was all ready in it's little fruit wrapper, and waiting to be eating, smiling up at us, all glowing and beautifully fresh.
I love raw foods, and it loves me, and we are soulmates. LOL
