What is it about a fast that turns a tongue white?
Ick!
I didn't even set out to "fast". I've been ill the last five days and so naturally I don't want to eat anything - just a tiny bit of orange juice or fruit smoothie each day, along with some herbal tea with honey. My body is trying hard to rid itself of this infection and honestly does not want any more food. But now this icky white tongue...will it go away on its own when I start to eat normally again? :(

Thanks RP - so you are saying I should be happy about this unsightly thing? It really grossed me out. But getting rid of toxins is nice. :)

I am on my 17th day of water fasting, I have had horrible white tongue since today!! Today it was a bit white but getting more pink, and I am starting to be hungry again. So I think that tomorrow it will be my last day of fasting :D
18 days will be enough :)

Yep, had the white tongue too . . . DETOX. I never seem to stay on the juice fast long enough for my tongue to go back pink naturally. I really should try, though. After reading Fragola being on a water fast for 18 days and the tongue just now starting to go back pink, I'm sure with a juice fast, it will take even longer!!!!
When I had my white tongue, I would brush it with my tooth brush and use a tongue scaper. It didn't help too much, but there was a little difference.

Fragola,
Aren't you all raw, normally? I know you're young so you don't have tons and tons of stuff to detox. I'm wondering why your tongue would be white for soooooo long.

That's a good thing. Toxins are coming out! My tongue gets white when I don't eat for a while and I get a bad taste in my mouth.

If you're detoxing through your tongue (I always do) it's important to keep the tongue clean to make room for more toxins. I know...ew....
Anyhow, use a tongue scraper or the curved side of a spoon works really well too.
This too shall pass. And when all is said and done, you'll have a beautiful, pink tongue the way tongues are meant to be.
Notice when someone is sick, their tongue is white? Sick=Detox.
Ahh, so it's true, it's true! Sickness is a form of detox!
