I started using coconut butter or oil on my hair for a conditioner and at night on my face and neck as a moisturizer.
Have also been high raw for about a week and have been incorporating green smoothies like 1 quart a day into my diet.
My question is my neck primarily on both sides of my neck are all broke out in a rash.........
I have very clear skin and have never had a problem with acne or zits or anything.........
Any ideas what the deal is? Am I maybe allergic or using too much of the coconut oil/butter?
that goodness the rash is out of site........i would not be a happy camper if this was on my face ..............

my guess it is a detox symptom from being on raw for a week and if thats the case its a good thing. Get that stuff out of your system. If it is a allergy which I am doubting, have you ever had an allergy to cocunuts or oils before???

I really don't think soo....but if you believe its that really...then maybe you are right....I really think its a detox symtom. Try switching to avocado and oil for hair and skin and see what happens.

mypinkbow, I broke out in exactly the same place after about 5 days high raw. Pretty sure it's detox!

Sorry for digging this back up. I used coconut oil on my face about 1 year ago and broke so horribly all over my face, probably my worst ever breakout, little whiteheads scattered literally everywhere on my face and my face looked very red, and I was not eating raw at the time, only vegan. I stopped the coconut oil and the mess cleared :).

Do you need the extra moisture? I've found that since going raw I've completely simplified my beauty routine. I wash my face with water and ocassionally will use a toner or an exfoliator when I feel that I need it. Maybe two times a week with the toner and twice a month for the scrub. I also don't need to wash my hair as often. I only wash/condition once a week now. Makes showers so much quicker when you have as much hair as I do! And without the beauty products I am constantly getting compliments on my skin! What a bonus! I had one person ask me what I do and I said 'nothing'. She blinked then laughed and said that is probubly why it looks so nice!
I used to go through beauty product after beauty product trying to find one that I could use without an alergic reaction. I'd get a rash on my face and neck from everything, but with this routine I never do. Just something to think about!

Ok, where do I start... first, when I was in school for aesthetics my teacher told me that people who break out (like me) along the jawline and neck, that meant we had digestive problems.
I've been doing raw for 50 days now. The first three weeks I broke out pretty badly, but that was definitely detox. After that my skin has been getting better and better... until I started using coconut oil on my face about a week ago. I started breaking up all along my jaw and neck again.
So I kept putting the oil on the places I DON'T break out (ie. my cheeks, forhead and around my eyes) as that skin is looking much younger already. I stopped putting the coconut oil on my jaw and neck and have stopped breaking out there. So I guess you need to figure out what works for you. My personal opinion is that you are detoxing after only a week on raw (way to go by the way!). You may want to stop the coconut oil for a month to see what is making you break out.... especially since yours is more of a rash than acne. Good luck!
