PawPaws???

Has anyone heard of or ever tried the fruit called pawpaw? I could get a good deal on some paw paw trees and apparently they can grow in my area! So I was curious as to what they were like and if anyone has ever had them

OMG BE VERY CAREFUL!!! My friend invited me over 2 summers ago and had fresh pawpaw's from a tree on her acreage. I ate it (it's the texture of an avocado and tastes sweet like a banana) and my children ate muffins made with them...my son started throwing up while we were still there and I threw up out the car door on the way home!

My friend didn't believe it could be the pawpaw's (one of her daughters felt sick too) so she picked more and they had some and they all felt sick and one of them threw up.

I tried to look it up, apparently it can make some people sick?? But not all b/c they have pawpaw festivals where they make all kinds of things with it and everyone doesn't get sick?

Just eat a little at a time?!?!?!? :confused:

Yes, they are very sweet and delicious.

I never heard of anyone getting sick on them, but everyone is different.

thanks everyone. well now I'm a bit afraid to get a tree of a fruit that could make me sick. thanks for the warning!

If you can buy one around your area or even online I'd try one fruit before you bought a tree to grow.

My granddad had a pawpaw tree in his backyard.
I loved eating them and never got sick!

i've never seen a pawpaw around here or else i would do that. but if i ever see one i'll have to try it
