Hello, my name's Tina and I was referred to this forum from a livejournal community. I'm vegan and I'm finding it very difficult to transition to raw food, so I came here in hopes that some of you may answer some of my questions.

I'm from Toronto, and I'm a student at York University studying French and Spanish in hopes of becoming a high school teacher. I'm lesbian and I do anti-homophobia volunteer work, as well as volunteering my skills in web design for a couple of school groups, including the student newspaper of my campus.

I'm a treehugger, and I buy only organic produce and products. I have an anti-consumerist and anti-sweatshop policy for my day to day living, and will not buy commercial brands or products made under unfair labour practices.

As for intros, I think that's it about me. That was quite extravagant! I hope I can find myself a home here and get informed about making the transition to raw food.

Oh yeah, are there any other Torontonians here? If so, holla back! :o)

Hello Tina. My name is Amber. I'm currently living in California, and today is my eighth day of raw! *this is a big accomplishment for me* I'm in community college right now, hoping to transfer into UC Berkley for a degree in performing music, as well as get my teaching degree. All the best to you.

HI! Sheryl here. I'm from Toronto too, but moved to the Gold Coast of Australia (think warm sandy beaches that stretch for kilometers... cold now though).

Toronto is a great place to be raw - lots of raw restaurants, some raw support groups that meet for dinners and more! If you search the forum here for Toronto you should find some threads about that.

Buy a book or two (even Chapters usually has some) - or order from the site here. Experiment a little and have fun! It's actually quite simple. Going into summer is the perfect time too with fresh produce so readily available there.

Welcome to the community! Post often and ask any questions you have - we're happy to help!

Cheers,
Sheryl

Welcome to the board... hope you love it here as much as I do! I'm in Alliston (like an hour's drive north of T.O. in case you didn't know) :)

Hi Tina,
I just joined this forum. I live in Mississauga. Been 80% raw for about 5 months. Before that, almost 20 years of on again/off again vegetarian and vegan. Have you been to any raw restaurants in the Toronto area?

Whooo hoooo Mississauga!! I grew up there in Lorne Park, and my little sister just bought a house there too!

Welcome Nektar!
