Hi Everyone!
Just signed on a few days ago and have already found this to be great place for inspiration and encouragement. I started researching raw food eating in September of 2003 and after almost a year of research and preparation (mental as well as kitchen appliance-wise), in August I was finally ready to go and have now been 100% raw for 5 months. My main reasons for deciding to eat raw are mostly spiritual and philosophical in nature, but as someone naturally thin, I am intrigued by how I can use the nutrients and life force of raw foods to help GAIN weight.
I think part of what took me so long was finding others like myself who were not trying to lose weight or not dealing with a health crisis. I started a journal in the 30-day Challenge picture gallery to share some of what I've learned, and hopefully (in time) provide insights for others like myself who are seeking information about using raw foods for bodybuilding--and I use that term not as someone who is in the running for Mr. Olympia, but rather as someone who uses weights and progressive resistance to add muscle. Meaning, if you saw me, you'd probably think: Bodybuilder?! That skinny white boy? No way...
But I am making progress slowly but surely. I have to tell my friends and family, "Yes I'm looking thin right now, but under my clothes I am more lean and muscular than I've ever been!" Living in Minnesota and being somewhat modest, I really have not had opportunity to throw off my clothes in recent months to prove this, but it's true.
It's great read stories and share philosophies of others who are also on this journey. Many are inspiring to me, and I hope I can add another voice of inspiration for others as well.
Peace,
Andrew
P.S. The avatar picture is my dog, Hank, as a puppy. He's 3 1/2 now, but will always be a puppy to me. I'm a little crazy-obsessed with him since he is as close to a child as I will probably ever have.
