My blender died and I have a Vitamix on order, but I didn't want to go without green smoothies for 2-6 weeks, so I bought a cheap blender as a back-up to take when I travel. It's more powerful than the one it replaced. My smoothies used to be applesauce consistency, now they're so smooth you can't pick out which is a piece of lettuce and which is a bit of apple. One of my sons doesn't like my smoothies anymore because now you can really taste the greens since they're chopped so fine, so I'll have to start experimenting to find a combination he'll eat.
My question is, is a smooth smoothie better/healthier than a chunkier one? I suspect that having everything chopped so fine means that more gets assimilated, so maybe using less greens wouldn't be such a bad trade-off because maybe more is getting assimilated even though I'm using less. What do you think?
