The last 5 days I have been eating/drinking 1 quart daily of a green smoothie plus tons of salad........for lunch and dinner.......
Been high raw for 5 days now.
It seems to be cleaning out my system as I am in the bathroom alot!!!!!!
Very loose stools several times a day .
Is this normal in the beginnning???? Is this what you guys call DETOX????
Will this subside at some point?
When I eat SAD I am frequently constipated........now I am RAW and the complete opposite.........will there be a happy medium found after I have been RAW longer?
Thanks

It may not be "normal" but it is natural. Sometimes in nature, things swing to the extreme opposite before coming to balance. Have patience. :)

When I first started eating a high amount of raw foods, some years ago, the same thing happened to me. I did not have this problem after a while ( I think it was about one month. Increasing my raw foods intake did help regulate my bowels. Last month I experienced this again when I was doing a deep cleanse. I added 1 tbsp of psyllium husk to 16 ounces of water. I drank this daily and it seemed to do the trick. I was having about 5-6 bowel movements during this cleanse (I usually have 3-4) but now my bowels movement had "bulk". I've always had a lot of energy but after this past cleanse my energy level was through the roof! :)

Oh yeah, it's normal at first. I had that for the first few weeks at 100% raw and it slowly gets back to normal. Keep in mind though that your stools will be different forever as long as you're mostly raw. They will usually be a little more watery and a lighter color. There is nothing unhealthy about this. Keep in mind also that we are meant naturally to have a bowel movement a little while after eating. Just look at infants, they have a pure, clean system while they are feeding on breastmilk only and they have bowel movements soon after they 'eat'. Ideally, we should be going to the bathroom sometime after each meal. We have longer digestive tracts than carnivores but still, frequent bathroom visits are normal. You will balance out though and it won't cause trouble after you finish detoxing. Let it take it's course and get all that junk out of you.

You also may want to try bulking up your stools with more nuts.
I notice when I make, for instance, the cashew cheesecake and eat a slice every day, my stools have a LOT more bulk. Lots of fiber. :D
