Has anybody noticed an INCREASE in injuries or a DECREASE in the amount of hard workouts their body can take with raw?

I got a pretty painful injury last week in martial arts and ended up going to the doc since it wasn't healing and was actually getting worse after 9 days. I couldn't even walk up stairs, let alone throw a kick.

It turns out the my pelvis is all "twisted" and out of place (which probably happened over a longer period of time) and because of that, I strained my hip flexors. So I was basically told not to kick or take any falls or hits to my hips/pelvic area--which is not really possible with what I do--and that it would take quite some time to heal, even with physical therapy.

I'm getting a strong feeling that as much as I absolutley love kicking butt :) (it's a great workout and awesome stress relief), my body is wanting more nurturing and less abuse. By becoming more aware of my body as far as food goes, it seems that other things that might not be in my best interest are coming to light as well.

Has anyone else felt that they had to adopt a gentler lifestyle to honor their body in a better way after going raw? I already teach yoga and I love that--any other suggestions or similar stories?

Blessings,
Myssi

I have not had any negative experiences in this area since going Raw. My workouts suffered initially as I was tired and weak. Now I am fine. I find I recover faster, more energy to run too. Your injury may be from imbalanced that have more to do with body alignment and exercise form than diet.

The one big change is my attitude. I no longer put my work outs first. I used to look at training as something I HAD TO DO. I trained to much and now get better results less training. I am enjoying my training time again after years of doing it simply to serve a purpose. I find I am more balanced and my body is more balanced since going Raw.

Make sense ?

Hi Myssi,
I hope you feel better and recover well.
I was going to ask a similar type of question. I also train in the arts and have been high raw for about two or three weeks, and I have been getting bruises easier, and it's taking two weeks for them to disappear. Also my recovery time from strength drills is incredibly slow, I ache now for days. My joints all crack now too, which is really strange because all of them make noise where as before only the occasional pop here or there.
I was thinking that maybe I'm not getting enough of a particular nutrient or vitamin and was going to do a search and balance out my diet. I won't quit training though, raw has been enabling me not disabling me up to this point. I'm not saying that adopting a "gentler" lifestyle is bad, (gosh knows my lifestyle has changed dramatically) but my training is above all about awareness, and it's just a part of my life.
I do have trouble with energy and haven't been running, but everything I read said it's part of the transition and will pass, so I hope all of this will too. I also practice yoga, which I love, and have been doing more since the transition because of my lack of running.

I noticed an increase in my intensity levels throughout my entire workout. I initially noticed this as a Vegan (mainly whole foods, some lightly steamed dishes) since I've transitioned to all raw foods my energy is even higher. I work out daily. I work out with free weights and do cardio workouts.

I was in a bad accident a 4 years ago. Before the accident, I was doing and loving Tae-bo - I loved how I felt strong and powerful. Ever since the accident, however, I don't have the "oomph" to do anything that intense, it's just too much. All I do for now is walk in the park, listen to the birds and frogs, feel the changes of air and temperature on my skin as I walk past the creek, etc. This is what is right for me for now.

I used to get sore after my workouts and be tired after the gym, now that I'm raw I'm never tired or sore. In fact I'm full of energy and want to run outside after the gym lol. I hope you feel better soon! Also, if you're only 2-5 weeks raw you may not have the energy you did previously due to detox.
