How many of you have made raw disasters?
I have made a few things I didn't like, but this morning's smoothie was definitely a raw DISASTER! I had to put it down the garbage disposal!

I am out of groceries.
I figured I'd use what was left in the fridge to make a smoothie:

1 banana
1 slice pineapple
1/2 cup coconut milk

ok.. so far sounds good, but here's where I went wrong.
I read a day or two ago about juicing watermelon so I saved the rinds.
I peeled about 8 inches square of watermelon rind and put in the pieces.

YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!
It tasted (and smelled) like... well.. like VOMIT!

ARRRrrrrrrrrghhhhh! GROSS!
I spit it out and poured it down the drain.

No more watermelon rind in my smoothies!

I wonder if it turned out so bad because it was an old rind? I've used watermelon rinds in my smoothies often, and I never even taste them. :)

My biggest disaster is the Baby Raw's Potato chips...from LOLF!

I spent so much time cleaning, slicing and soaking those potato chips- I used a whole bottle of vinegar to soak them- smelled horrible in my kitchen!!!

While removing them from the vinegar and onto the dehydrator tray the vinegar dripped onto and down off of my countertops and down across the front of my brand new dishwasher........I did not notice this until a few hours later and the black trim on my dishwasher was all bleached out!!!! and the vinegar had discolored the stainless steel on the front

The chips were in there for 2 days and would never get crispy just powdery coating and starchy taste- nauseating- I threw them all in the trash- My kitchen still smells like vinegar-ugh!

NEVER again!

YUCK!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

The first time I made nut milk, I poured it into a nutmilk bag, squeezed it out until I was left with just pulp, only to look down and realize that doing it over the sink was a bad idea, it all went down the drain of course... LOL! :o

LOL! That's funny! I made a smoothie once and didn't realize the jar wasn't screwed into the base very well, and it started spinning and spun off the blender and crashed to the floor. It didn't break, but there was smoothie everywhere!

I laughed when I read the smoothie post.

I made a fruit smoothie once.
I put bananas and berries and pineapple and coconut milk in my blender with a couple of dates. I put on the lid, and started it. Then I walked away to let it work. WRONG decision!

One of those dates hit the lid and knocked it off and I had red berry smoothie from ceiling to floor. It was a MESS! lol

Probably the worst tasting mistake was making a fruit smoothie with a banana, mixed berries, mango, dates, and I'd guess other yummy fruit and grabbing the jar of organic cinnamon which I always add to my smoothies and AFTER I'd dumped about 4 large shakes full in, discovered it wasn't cinnamon at all but chili powder?! Ugggg... I didn't want to waste all that fruit and did try to drink it but it was awful and I ended up putting it down the sink!

I made the Hot Chips in Alissa's cookbook. Well, I added too much cayenne and chili powder...I thought, gee, I can eat hot food, but these were sooo hot LOL. OOps, mea culpa! LOL Hubby wanted to rename them 'atomic chips'--hee hee!

Grrrrrrrr.... Here's my lastest disaster. I was in a hurry this morning. I decided to try Alissa's Banana-Papaya pudding for the first time. Scooped out all the flesh from a whole papaya, put it in the vitamix, put in the banana, turned on the VitaMix... It wasn't moving too good, so got the tamper out. Couldn't get the center thing out of the lid fast enough and like I said I was in a hurry, LOL. So I got impatient and took the lid off the VitaMix, wasn't thinking and stuck the tamper in... well, who can guess what happened. The tamper hit the blades and the blades chewed up the bottom of the tamper... $30.00 mistake with shipping to Canada. At least the blades seem to be fine and it's just the tamper that's no good now... :o

Not to mention, after all that an entire papaya has been ruined, couldn't eat the pudding with all the black plastic pieces in it... :(

SIGH...

Let me tell you... when I try to make a recipe it is usually a disaster.
That is why I usually eat whole simple foods, can't mess this up.
Anytime I try some thing new I do it in very small amounts.
My lastest: Banana smoothie with coco nibs made in a Vitamix. Just did not taste good.
