Since becoming 100% over a month ago, I can no longer use "gu" or other energy gels and drinks. What sort of food is recommended for raw endurance athletes that is also easy to have in a pocket or pouch on a long run (15+ miles)? I am hoping to experiment 'cause come Marathon day, I don't want to have to rely on what the race is providing.

Did you find an answer to your question? I'm curious about similar things. we bike long distances in the ho, hot humid midwest summers, and I'm wondering what the best things to carry will be, particularly drinks. AIM, which makes Barley Life and other supplements, has a new endurance drink which I thought I might try, but it has a little sugar in it. I think that will be better than the regular stuff like Gatorade, Accelerade, but I'd like to find something, or learn how to make something that will replace electroytes in the most body-friendly way -- no sugar, etc. What have you worked out? :o

could you smush a banana up in a bag or something? or a mixed fruit smush bag lol. It sounds like it'd be like that gu stuff? I hope you find something!~
