Cool news about Cascadian Farm Fruits. From the company: The Cascadian farm fruits are processed within 3 hours of picking and usually sooner. They are then cleaned and quickly frozen. They are not blanched or heated during processing.

Unfortunately their vegetables are blanched. But I was really interested in fruit anyhow. For those interested: The Cascadian Farm Vegetables are also processed within three hours of picking and usually sooner. The vegetables are then blanched and then we freeze them. We use the term “fresh frozen” because we believe that blanching and quickly freezing the vegetables maintains the closest possible quality to fresh.

GGirl!! Thanks for the info. I ,too, usually only use the frozen raspberries or strawberries during the winter months. I could tell their peas and green beans were blanched. Sometimes, they even add salt to them too  .

Thanks again,
JMD

What's annoying is how hard it is to get good quality organic fruits (berries & some others) in the health or grocery store. It goes bad really quickly or it's not that great to begin with. Strawberries cost way too much for what you end up getting. This is why I've been looking into frozen. It's the only way I'll get in my green smoothies daily.

Same here, I use a ton of Cascadian Farms. It's great to know this GGirl, thank you! When they go on sale by us, I stock up on 20 bags or more at the same time. I usually buy them out!
