12 days ago I went ~90% raw (all raw except an organic cooked turkey patty with my salad each night), and today, day 12, I went 100% raw. I've had at least one green juice per day, very often two.

On days 1-5 I felt great. Skin was clear and started to glow, energy high.

On day 6 I felt awful - exhausted and nauseous. Didn't eat much and got extra sleep. Skin started to break out.

Day 7 - Lots of toilet action! Energy and appetite returned, skin continued to freak out.

Days 8 and 9 - energy great, skin terrible. Frequent trips to the toilet.

Day 10 - Skin goes crazy bad, and I get what feels like cystitis! :( I eat blueberries, take probiotics and drink a lot of water. Cystitis eases a little.

Day 11 - Let myself have extra sleep (9 hrs - normally have 7.5). Wake up incredibly irritable! Cystitis worsens and is joined by diarrhea. What a fun day! Eat blueberries, drink cranberry juice, take probiotics and drink a lot of water. Cystitis eased a lot by evening. Skin looks a mess!

Day 12 (today) - Continued with the blueberry/cranberry/probiotics. No new pimples but skin looks awful! It's not greasy though, like it used to be when I got regular acne. Detox skin? Oh, and now I'm constipated. :D

Anyway, having typed all that, it looks like a detox to me. Since I've already broken out, there is no point reigning in and going back/slowing down. This is why I ramped up to 100% raw after the 11 days at ~90%. I had also found that increasing cooked food (to slow the detox) wasn't working, in fact it seemed to make me break out more, so now I'd rather just speed things along.

Any suggestions? Would a green juice fast be advisable? I'm happy to do something drastic, I just want these toxins out of my body. I feel all grimy right now.

I have been taking nightly Epsom Salt baths all along, using coconut oil and lemon as deoderant and drinking my 64oz of water daily. Also drink a lot of green tea. No coffee. If anyone has experiences of a good, quick detox-aid or fast, I'm all ears. Thanks!

PS: On the good points, I've noticed my eyes are very bright and the whites are really white. :)

I'm new too, but I thought I'd tell you of an experience I had. I started increasing my garlic from one clove to 4 to 6 a day. I started smelling like garlic so bad I would stink out any room or house I was in. I heard it was a temporary detox affect. Well I wasn't willing to give it up. So I decided to INCREASE my garlic intake to detox faster and it worked. Shortly after I doubled my garlic intake to about an entire bulb, I stopped stinking up everywhere. Now I cut back and I'm consuming about 6 cloves on good days. :p

So my suggestion would be to take lots and lots of raw garlic, you might be stinky for a bit but it goes a away. It's a natural anti-bacterial food that should help you detox faster. But I've only been a raw vegan for 4 months. ;)

I use a garlic press for 2 cloves, add about an inch of chopped-up frozen banana, 1 oz of water and blend it in one of those tiny 1-cup blender cups (I think using a full size would be too messy and spit-up too much all over the sides and lose half of it all over the sides). I have to press and chop, because if left whole it doesn't blend well. I do this 3 times a day. A couple of orange slices as chasers are good too. :D

Oh yeah your post was written very amusingly! hee hee :D

You can use enemas to help get toxins out of the liver(somehow the vein lies not too far, that connects the two). Even twice a day. But then you will need to use sourkraut, seed cheese or other fermented stuff to repopulate the gut with certain bacteria.
You also can work out - that speeds up detox like crazy! But if you already have a hard time - do not try that. Believe me, you probably have enough toxins to slowly detox for several years anyway, so speeding up, might push you and your body over the edge. That's why, some people with cancer report their tumors shrink from fasting, but they still die from toxins themselves- their body can not handle overload!
As for raw foods detox-it is hardest the first weeks, after that you get them once in a while-not all the time.

Thank you both of you! I already have garlic daily (in my guacamole salad) so adding a few extra cloves to that shouldn't be a problem. Now I need to go and warn my loved ones... :D

Wheatgrass can really help to boost those toxins out and give you a boost of energy at the same time.

There are certainly things you can do to assist the detox process. If it were me I would take my time. My friend works for Dr. Cousens, and she was telling me that he did some tests on women who had been 100% raw for over six years and living in pristine environments (i.e. Hawaii) with very clean air and water, and he STILL found multiple toxins and heavy metals in their breast tissue. I think detox is a process to take seriously, and move comfortably and enjoyably. Juicing everyday is fantastic. Drinking a lot of water. Eating less fat and more fruits and vegetables will speed up detox. As will deep breathing, saunas, massage, body brushing, exercise, light fasting, yoga, etc. Enjoy the process though.. it's about taking care of ourselves for the long haul.

Fasting is fast, but hard. I recommend fruit, naturally!
