A friend and I went to the Food of Life Festival on the south coast of England yesterday. It was quite a long journey for us - train, bus then lots of walking - so we couldn't stay as long as we had hoped otherwise we wouldn't have got home again in the evening.
The event seemed to be very well attended with diverse groups of people all having fun. I briefly spoke to Angela Stokes, who was with Matt Monarch. He looked a bit tired but someone told me he had jet lag.
I saw some of the staff behind 'Raw Living' - I've bought stuff from their website and they were all very helpful. I bought some agave syrup from their stall which I will test out in some recipes soon.
I bought some amazingly good (but expensive) coconut butter (Thai, organic) from the people behind 'Funky Raw'.
THEN...... I saw Shazzie with her toddler Evie. I spoke to her for quite a while and she is absolutely wonderful! She has a great sense of humour and is a great source of information and advice. Shazzie looked great - a real testimonial to the power of raw! Shazzie is very photogenic - I just look worn out from all the travelling ( plus a bad hair day ) but it was very exciting to meet her.
My friend and I wanted to hear Angela Stokes talk about her weight loss on raw but her slot was delayed and we had to get back to the station. Public transport in England on a Sunday is often unreliable so we didn't want to risk missing our train.
I had hoped to buy some books when I was there but there weren't a lot on display although I did see Victoria Boutenko's '12 Steps to Raw' and have now ordered that from The Fresh Network.
I think the event was very good and hope that one day a larger one can take place in London.
