do you have to sprout the rye berries? Can you just soak them and then make them?

Yes you should sprout, rye is one of the easiest to sprout and fast growing too. Just soak overnight , drain put in a jar with a drain top, cheese clth what ever you have available, (sprout bag, or sprout tube) invert, rinse several times a day...easy !!

It's really easy to sprout the rye berries. Just soak them overnight then rinse and put them in a colander (with small holes or slits - I picked one up at dollar general) and sort of spread them evenly on the sides and bottom. Set the colander on a plate (tocatch and hold the water that drains) and cover (I use a little bamboo mat, but a towel or even paper towel works just as well). Rinse the berries three times a day drain and re-cover. Mine sprouted in about two days - and the bagels were delicious. :)
