I've been on mostly raw food since the end of April. I've actually put on some weight but now realize it's because I'd been overindulging on mostly dates & nuts.

Has anyone else had a problem gaining while raw or have any advise.

I've started the 30 day challenge today and I'm really hoping to lose weight so I can start feeling healthier.

Take care :)

I gained weight when I ate too many nuts and dates and dried fruit. I would never go over a certain weight, but I would gain weight within about a 15 pound range.

Did you lose weight when you stopped? Is there anything else you did to lose?
thanx a bunch :)

Dates and Nuts are very calorie dense food choices so the weight gain comes from that, not nessecarily the food choice alone. If you can control the portions you can still enjoy, but if you over indulge yes weight gain can result !!

I did not gain much on a high nut diet but I did not lose either !! :p

:) Now i eat very little cooked food maybe a couple of spoons full of red beans and chickpeas a couple of times a week alone with loads of raw veggies. I can't stand to gain any weight I'm only 5 feet tall and it really will show up on men.
I purchase some Mega1Zymes at my health food store today, i heard that it will help your food digest and it is similiar to your bodies natural enzymes.
I have trouble digesting tough veggies such as carrots, broccoli, cabbage etc.
I just took two of them so i will see if they work, they cost enough so i hope they do.
Maybe this will help you.

Ann :)

I know where your coming from. I'm only 5' also.
Whats rough for me is years ago I was competing for Miss Fitness. With in the past 3 years I've gained 50 pounds :(
Granted I've had a baby & relapsed w/ Myasthenia Gravis ( an autoimmune disease similar to lupus/MS )
I'm doing the raw diet mainly to get energy and my health back, but losing weight would be an AWESOME bonus.

Any words of encoragement would be very much appreiciated :D

take care everyone :)

Yes, I lost weight when I cut back on nuts and dried fruit. I lose weight very easily and I gain very easily, so I just have to be careful.

How many years did you diet, compete ? I did for 6 years and it left me with a few compromises in my digestion, metabolism. I have been a year since my last show and 10 mo Raw. It has made a huge difference in how I feel.

I was fortunate that my weight gain after my shows was just back to the 12-15 I lost for the stage. I fought it in the offseason as so many gals that compete rebound and gain back more than they lost.

Since you had a baby and MG it may take a little more time to get back to normal. Be patient !

You said you were high raw. Having any percentage of cooked could hinder your weight loss or even cause a gain...just my thought. Good luck!
