View Full Version : My raw food stance...

Hi all,

My husband and I have been 95-100% raw for the past 3 months. If we were to eat cooked food, it was bread or pasta or miso soup.

I never liked to cook. Ever since we discovered raw, I am in the kitchen all the time creating and etc.....

I created a journal because I am going to record my intake for 30 days (or more). Once I hit 30 days at 100% raw, I will just keep going from there :)

For us, raw is about feeling good and living a good life. I am not overweight, in fact I am apparently underweight according to some bmi scales blah blah.. I feel good at this height/weight though, that's what matters.

We want to have the energy and stamina to go on long hikes, etc.. Raw makes you feel good. I love making and consuming raw food :D

Anyways..... here is a link to my journal. Please feel free to take a look at it if you want. I will post everyday what I ate. You can post comments too.

Thanks and have a great raw day!!

Also, some history about me...

I was always vegetarian, and have been vegan for 10 years. My husband was neither when I met him, but quickly began vegan after discovering how good he felt. We are still tired all of the time and just generally don't feel that great... Even though you are not eating animal products, you are still consuming cooked food.. dead food... there is not much energy in it anymore so you don't get much out of it.

How are you making your lemon cream pie?

How are you making your lemon cream pie?

very simple...

cashews, dates, salt and a half - whole lemon makes the cream filling.
I used a half of a lemon at first, but then it seem like it needed more
so I added the other half.

You could also use cashews/mac nuts instead of just cashews...

I should have taken a picture... but we ate it pretty quickly :)

I will be making another one, maybe not lemon, but another pie this week so I will be sure to post a picture this time.
I am thinking about key lime or strawberry pie.

I am also working on creating a web site to have my journal and other interactive things (recipes, etc). I hope to have it up at least by July.

Congratulations!
I have always eaten a high amount of raw food but after My cleanse in May coupled with a few colonics I moved to 100% even the lightly steamed foods I had been eaten made me feel tired. I have always had a lot of energy but the energy I'm experiencing now is amazing. I did not think my levels could get any higher. :)

P.S.
I tried to comment on your blog but it only allows blogger identity. I don't have one of those.

About the comment, that must have been a default setting. I changed it so that anyone can comment. I don't want people to have to register to comment, that's silly... Okay, it is fixed. When you go to comment, you just choose "other" and enter your name, no logging on required... :)

I think colonics are great.. some people have different opinions. But colonics help a lot of people. I am so happy for you though, I think it is a sign that your body wants raw because even lightly steamed food made you feel tired. :) Before, I noticed that if I ate raw all day and then ate a little cooked food I would feel really bad... tired.. not in a good mood etc... I am just so looking forward to raw being my lifestyle now completely and not eating any cooked food. I don't even crave it anymore. Through the past 3 months, my cravings for cooked food diminished significantly.. I didn't even WANT to eat it... Your taste buds change...

where did you get that from at that price?

by the way, when i first saw your avatar in another post, i was jokingly going to ask if it was you and possibly your boyfriend / husband. I say jokingly because it is such a nice picture, and i honestly thought someone had scanned the fake pictures of the "perfect" couples that come in a picture frame when you buy them new. Then I checked out your journal. So long story short, you are a very cute couple, and those are very cute pictures.

lol Boz. That's funny :D I wonderful if other people have thought that too.
Our photographer really did a great job.. She took over 200 pictures for us and they were all so wonderful. Thank you for your kind words :)

I purchased the vitamix off of Ebay, it was a buy it now price. Stated to be in very good condition.
I like the idea of it better than the newer vitamix models, because I prefer stainless steel over plastic. I also like the spigot feature.

Yesterday I won a Vitamix 3600 on Ebay for $151. It is in very good condition. I hsould be getting it soon since the seller is in PA. I preferred the 3600 over the plastic model. I've been eyeing those the 3600 for a while and I decided to finally purchase this since my old blender, although good, is showing signs of not being able to take the constant use. It will be my backup I paid under $30 for it.

Oh by the way thanks! I was able to leave comments on your blog. I'm Vegan Momma.

That's great :) Mine is coming from FL.. across the country.. so it might take a bit longer, but he said he would have it shipped by Wednesday.

I have a Cuisinart blender which I don't like very much. The only thing that I really like about it is the container is glass. I am very anti-plastic.

I used a Vitamix last week and so I knew I had to have one. It makes pies creamier than my food processor does. I've never owned a Vitamix so I am very excited! Let me know how you like yours! :)

I'm anti-plastic as well. I finally converted all my storage containers to glass last year. That is why I choose my current blender at the store I visited it was one of the few that was not plastic. I'll definitely let you know how I like the Vita Mix. I cannot wait to receive it.

heabrook,

love your journal and the pics - great idea!

One question about your pies: can you cut them, do they hold their shape or are they more of a "use a spoon"-version?

You can cut them and they hold very well actually. I put them in the freezer (for a short amount of time, if we want to eat it right away) or in the refrigerator for a longer period of time. This helps firm it even more so that it is easier to cut.

I cut it with a knife and use a pie scoop (lol.. it's not called that.. what is it called.. a pie thing.. you know what I mean. It is shaped like a V and you left pie out of the pan with it). It holds very well, it is shocking really!

Thanks for the info - love to try out your recipes!

You mean a cake shovel, right?

Something like this

heabrook

Yep, that's essentially it. Mine is more pointed and is stainless steel. Maybe it is called a pie shovel!

I'll email you the pie recipe.

BTW: The one on the picture is not mine :) Not quite my taste...

thanks for the recipe!

Sorry, I should have said German-American. Her parents came to the US and thus she was born and raised in the United States. I cannot remember where exactly in Germany her dad was born but I know that her mom was born in Czechoslovakia.

How do you like living on the south coast of Ireland?

My husband and I desperately want to visit Ireland. Someone I used to know gave me a book on Ireland because he and his wife went there several times. I told him that I want to go to Ireland so I guess by giving me the book he thought I would not forget my desire to go to Ireland. :) I still have the book and we still plan to go someday. I have Irish ancestry (my grandmother, dad's mom) was Irish. My husband has Irish ancestry too.

You know, just some places spark your interest more than others. Ireland is that for us.

I love living here but then they do say that the savage loves his native shore.
If you want to drop over and stay with me for a while you will be welcome. Keep an eye out for cheap flights and the accomodation is free.
