Does the french dressing in Alissa's book really taste like flax oil? I don't like the taste of flax oil, but does this recipe need it for the nutty flavor? Any opinions from those who've tried it would be great. I'd like to try it on my salad tonight. HELP!!!

I'm sorry! I don't know. I wanted to respond since nobody else has. It's frustrating to post a question and not get any responses. Makes you wonder if people are even seeing it. So...sorry I can't help, i've yet to find a salad dressing I like.

I haven't tried that dressing with the original ingredients yet, because I cannot lay my hands on flaxoil here.

Do you like the nutty flavour? If yes, substitute for a (raw) walnut oil (if available).

I simply substited the flax oil with a good olive oil and liked the flavor. If that helps you at all ;)

Thanks. I did try it last night but wasn't that thrilled with it as it was. It didnt' taste much like french dressing to me. Maybe I'll try it later with olive oil. I love the taste of olive oil. The walnut oil also sounds like a really good idea....Oh!! so many good ideas. Which one to try next?

Honey Mustard Dressing is also a great alternative - I just made a large batch, because I like it so much.

It must have been really good, because it was devoured with salad :D

I really like hemp oil on my salads. It has a unique, tasty, but not overpowering flavour.
You could also try cold-pressed sesame oil (if you were saying you liked nutty flavours)- it doesn't taste at all like the toasted kind. It is lighter, and very nutty.
But I am much more of a fan of the hemp seed oil! :D
